Health and Safety Technician II Job Opening

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPekron Consulting, Inc., (Pekron) located in the greater Chicagoland area, with an office in New Hampshire, is seeking a Safety & Health Technician II with 5 years of Construction/General Industry Safety & Health experience. A bachelor’s degree is required as well as an OSHA 30 hour in General and/or Construction Industry, OHST, or CHST. CSP and CIH are not required, but preferred. Pekron is a national leader in providing EH&S consulting services and expertise to a diverse array of Fortune 500 clients. The job location is in Whiting, Indiana, but our clients require our services throughout the United States. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: · Conducting safety and health compliance audits and observations which can include OSHA, ANSI and ISO machine guarding assessments and LOTO specific audits;· Development of equipment specific LOTO written procedures and facilitating training;· Acting as our clients’ site-safety and health professional on projects;· Performing industrial hygiene exposure assessments;· Developing industrial hygiene sampling strategies;· Interpreting OSHA standards for client implementation, development of corrective actions and for recommendations;· Development and facilitation of EHS training;· Writing safety programs and procedures;· Writing detailed, technical reports;· Periodic travel to/from projects. Travel can range from a day to several months in duration. Long term travel projects are communicated well in advance of the project start date;· Mentoring less experienced EHS professionals;· Interacting professionally with our clients both verbally and in writing. Candidates must:

• Have strong computer and communication (written and verbal) skills;
• Have the ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment and take direction from a Project Manager and client;
• Be well organized;
• Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening;
• Be physically capable of lifting 50 pounds, climbing ladders and stairs, working in hot/cold environments, wearing fall protection and periodically working from heights;
• Have consistent access to a dependable vehicle for travel to/from work;
• Be willing to learn and want to develop as a safety & health professional;
• Be flexible with schedules and hours worked during a work week (some night and weekend work is possible);
• Be open to periodic travel for projects; and
• Be able to successfully work in various work environments.
