The Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf (ENCSD) is a state school serving the 54 easternmost counties that provides a specialized learning environment for deaf and hard of hearing students, kindergarten through 12th grade, following a typical school calendar. The ENCSD offers students an academic setting with standards-based instruction, low classroom ratios, career and vocational skills development, current technology, and an overall accessible environment for learning through American Sign Language. A boarding program is available for enrolled students residing outside of Wilson County. The ENCSD seeks to promote both intentional and experiential learning to provide continued advancement in student academic achievement and social/emotional well-being.
The School has an opening for a 2nd Shift Registered Nurse. This is a 10-month position, working SUNDAY through THURSDAY that follows the Eastern NC School for the Deaf academic calendar. This Registered Nurse position will provide professional nursing care to all students enrolled at ENCSD in accordance with standard nursing practice and theory as outlined in the NC Board of Nursing Practice Act, agency regulations, policies, procedure, and physician orders. This position's purpose is to maximize the quantity of in-class time by reducing the incidence of health-related absenteeism; eliminate or minimize health problems which may impair learning, promote student/staff and community awareness of and participation in healthy behaviors.
Knowledge of professional principles, practices and theory of nursing and its application.
Management will give preference to applicants who can communicate using American Sign Language.

Note on Education and Experience Equivalency:
Equivalency can go both ways. If a job has a minimum education and experience of associate degree and two years' experience, someone with a bachelor's degree could qualify.

Applicants seeking National Guard preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) if they are a current member of the NC National Guard. If an applicant is a former NC National Guard Member who served for at least 6 years and was discharged under honorable conditions, they must attach either a DD256 or NGB 22 along with their State application.
Applicants with degrees not conferred at a United States college or university must attach a degree verification that their degree is equivalent to a similar degree form a US institution.
