Leasing Agent (Property & Acquisition Specialist 5) Monday - Friday | 8AM - 5PM | HYBRID Who We Are: The Department of Enterprise Services (DES) provides centralized business services to state government agencies; to other public entities such as cities, counties and tribes; and to Washington residents. Learn more about DES.  About the Real Estate Services Division:  The Real Estate Services Division's mission is to provide safe and efficient leased space for state agencies, boards, and commissions to perform their mission and best work while being responsible stewards of state resources, as well as acquiring and disposing of real property and managing public process in buying and selling properties.   About the Opportunity: As a Leasing Agent, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing a range of real estate services under RCW 43.82.010. You will lead teams of internal staff and external real estate brokers and consultants to execute various tasks, including lease negotiations, property management, appraisals, and planning. Your duties will include directing complex real estate transactions, coordinating lease acquisition activities, and ensuring that all projects meet identified targets and goals. Additionally, you will focus on process improvement and project management to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of real estate operations statewide.Some of What You'll Enjoy Doing Includes: * Negotiate, write, and execute complex real estate transactions, including leases, property exchanges, and right-of-way agreements. * Analyze and recommend suitable properties, advising agency management on assets, costs, lease terms, and compliance with statutory procedures. * Draft, review, and finalize legal documents such as leases, easements, and purchase agreements, while coordinating site selection, appraisals, and legal notices.  * Plan, coordinate, and oversee lease acquisition activities for client agencies and private lessors, including site selection and contract management. * Manage all aspects of real estate transactions, including proposals, appraisals, title reports, surveys, and document recording. * Supervise the preparation of complex real estate instruments, such as sale and purchase options, Quit Claim Deeds, and bid preparations. * Serve as a liaison between clients, Real Estate Services, and the Office of Financial Management to ensure alignment with occupancy needs. * Manage and oversee all aspects of the project, ensuring goals and objectives are met. * Review and ensure the completion of all project deliverables, providing ongoing status, metrics, and budget reporting. * Facilitate project meetings, monitor scope, schedule, budget, and risks, and lead the project through its life cycle while adhering to established guidelines. * Other duties as needed. Required Qualifications: To qualify for the position, a candidate must possess one (1) of the following education and/or experience options: [OPTION 1]:  * Valid Washington State Driver's License. * Bachelor's degree involving major study in business administration, public administration, real estate, economics, accounting, or closely allied field. * Four (4) years of experience in real property valuation; property negotiations; public property management; and selling, leasing, and buying real estate. * NOTE: Eight (8) years of equivalent combined education and/or experience may be considered and substitute the above listed required qualifications.  [OPTION 2]:  * Valid Washington State Driver's License. * One (1) year of experience as a Property and Acquisition Specialist 4. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in transaction and project management to include strategic planning and lease renewal negotiations.  * Experience managing complex projects, identifying, and leading process improvements.  * Proficiency in computer usage including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project, SharePoint, the Internet, and widely used real estate transaction management software such as Virtual Premise or similar systems.  * Skills to communicate effectively with a broad and diverse employee, management, and customer base.  * High degree of ability to work independently while directing the work of a team.  * Ability to prioritize, balance and integrate multiple work elements, and develop and maintain cooperative relationships with a broad client base.  * Ability to operate effectively in a high exposure, rapidly changing political environment.  * Management and leadership experience.  * Professional designations such as CCIM, MCR, PM, etc.  * Significant experience in lease negotiations for a major real estate portfolio  * Demonstrated proficiency in completing assignments in advance of established critical dates  * Demonstrated ability to manage high performing teams  * Ten (10) years of experience in a variety of real estate transactions; to include office, industrial and special-use space requirements.
