PURPOSE:

The Automotive Scheduler is responsible for developing, monitoring, and managing production schedules to ensure the timely delivery of automotive components and finished products. This role requires close coordination with multiple departments, including procurement, production, quality assurance, and logistics, to optimize resource allocation and maintain workflow efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in scheduling tools, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic manufacturing environment.


RESPONSIBILITY:

Production Scheduling:

  • Create and maintain production schedules based on client orders, manufacturing capacity, and resource availability.
  • Coordinate schedules to minimize downtime and ensure efficient utilization of equipment and personnel.
  • Monitor progress against schedules and adjust timelines as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Issue production daily schedule for mold sets and production needs using TMM.
  • Stabilize inventory levels. Ensure daily production is posted timely and accurately.


Coordination and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with procurement to ensure the timely availability of materials.
  • Work with operations teams to address bottlenecks, equipment failures, or other disruptions.
  • Maintain a continuous dialogue with Operations, Process Technicians, Tool Room and Purchasing to ensure needs are met, and established priorities and requirements are clearly understood and communicated internally.
  • Work with all departments, internally and externally, to negotiate and resolve any delivery problems or other concerns.
  • Communicate with customers and customer service as needed to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Communicate with vendors to ensure uninterrupted supply to meet production requirements.
  • Provides direction and assistance to the Process Technicians.

Data Management and Analysis:

  • Use ERP/MRP systems to input, track, and update production data.
  • Analyze production metrics to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.
  • Generate reports on production status, resource utilization, and scheduling conflicts.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives by optimizing scheduling processes.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential delays or resource shortages
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain Kan Ban systems as needed.
Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 1 – 2 years of experience in production planning or scheduling in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with scheduling software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or MES tools).
  • Familiarity with Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing and lean production systems.
  • Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, macros, data analysis).
  • Strong ability to analyze production data and identify bottlenecks.
  • Skill in forecasting production demands and resource requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with shop-floor workers, supervisors, and management.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional multitasking abilities.
  • Skilled in prioritizing tasks to meet tight deadlines.
