Apply Description Employment Status: Part- Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly Work Schedule: Tuesday 2:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., Wednesday 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. / 18 hours per week Reports to: Pastor/Coordinator of Faith Formation Summary: The Assistant Coordinator of Faith Formation, reporting to the Coordinator of Faith Formation, is responsible for developing and executing curriculum for children's faith formation programs and providing training for catechists. This role plays a crucial part in nurturing the faith development of our youth and preparing them for the sacrament of Confirmation This role plays a key part in supporting the overall mission and philosophy of the Department of Faith Formation within the parish. Job Responsibilities and Duties: Work collaboratively with the Faith Formation Coordinator on the general program operations which include: * Recruitment and scheduling of volunteers. * Maintaining compliance with Archdiocesan policies and procedures. * Coordinating with the parish registrar for Sacramental registration and records keeping. * Selection and ordering of religious education materials, review current curriculum and adoption of new curriculum when necessary. * Planning and development of religious education workshops, retreats and rehearsals for all ages. * Multi-program calendaring and facilities scheduling. * May be asked to participate in bi-weekly parish staff meetings. * Collaboration with parish staff, and greater San Antonio area Catholic and interfaith entities. Youth Ministry Leadership: * Assist in implementing a comprehensive youth ministry and Confirmation program that fosters spiritual growth, community involvement, and active participation in parish life. * Take care of practical organization of regular youth gatherings, events, retreats, and service opportunities that align with Catholic teachings and values. * Serve as a mentor and spiritual guide for Catechist, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants Confirmation Preparation: In collaboration with the Faith Formation Coordinator, manage and operate the faith formation programs in the parish which include Adult Faith Formation, Children's Faith Formation, and Sacramental Preparation programs for Baptism, OCIA/RCIA for Children, First Reconciliation and First Eucharist, and High School Confirmation. * Assist in coordinating the Confirmation preparation process, including curriculum, communication, and implementation. * Facilitate catechetical sessions, retreats, and workshops to ensure candidates are well-prepared to receive the sacrament. * Work closely under the direction of the Coordinator of Faith Formation to support the catechists, sponsors, and the candidates throughout their Confirmation journey. * Communicate in a timely manner with the Archdiocese of San Antonio regarding ceremony coordination. Outreach and Engagement: Collaborate with parish leadership and other ministries to integrate youth into the broader parish community. * Assist in promoting and organizing youth involvement in liturgical celebrations, parish events, and outreach initiatives. * Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, Deacons, staff, and parishioners to encourage support and participation in youth ministry activities. * Assist in Catechist and volunteer recruitment. Pastoral Care and Counseling: * Foster a safe and confidential environment where youth can discuss their faith and life experiences. * Ensure all volunteers are trained and certified in archdiocesan safe environment protocols. Administrative Duties: * Maintain database with accurate records of Confirmation candidates, attendance, and program activities. * Assist in managing budgetary resources effectively and responsibly. * Operate online class registration and billing processes. * Stay informed about trends and best practices in Catholic youth. * Assist in monitoring expenses for all programs with leadership. * Assist with any other tasks as directed by the Pastor/Coordinator of Faith Formation. Communications: * Create and maintain periodical communications via multiple platforms (i.e. or email, mailings, and website) for parish staff, parents and catechists. * Maintain clear communication with catechists, volunteers and parents regarding yearly schedules, policies and class changes. Maintain communication with catechists and assistants regarding scheduling conflicts, illness, and substitutes. * Maintain communication with Pastor and Parish Staff as needed regarding status or updates. * Collaborate with appropriate staff to promote Faith Formation programs and events through social media, bulletin, and pulpit announcements. Requirements Qualifications: * Practicing Roman Catholic with a strong commitment to the teachings and traditions of the Church. * Bachelor's degree in Catechesis, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field. * Experience in youth ministry and catechesis. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate effectively to youth, parents, and volunteers. * Organizational skills and attention to detail for program planning and administrative tasks. * Ability to work collaboratively with parish staff and volunteers. * Proficient use of Microsoft Office, including, but not limited to Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel. * Proficient use of Google Suite, including, but not limited to Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms. * Must be able to work in the evenings and weekends. * Spanish and English preferred.
