Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Two (2) years of experience in the installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of complex public safety radio communications including transmitters and receivers. Must possess a CDL/Class A or obtain a CDL/Class A prior to the completion of the one-year probationary period. Must be able to lift and handle items weighing up to 50 pounds. Recruitment Notes This position will reside in the Logistics Division under the Tactical Communications Bureau (T-Comm) at Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. The incumbent in this position has a wide range of responsibilities and tasks that require mechanical capabilities and the knowledge of technology which entails working on radio and communications equipment, install up-fit new vehicles of all light fleet to include diagnose and repair emergency lighting, sirens, all electrical wiring and upgrades needed to the vehicle, computers and network issues, OMG and GPS. At times, the incumbent may also be tasked to work outside the parameters of the normal work schedule due to participating in various high profile events. The T-Comm Bureau maintains and stocks a full parts warehouse which is utilized for all service and installs done to operational needs and new fleet, where as inventory is being conducted periodically and updated in the EAM data base system. Additionally, this position may be required to respond to emergency scenes and operate assets as necessary.
