Job Summary The Pharmacy Director Associate for Specialty Pharmacy Operations shall have at least 2 years of experience in patient care, must be qualified to provide oversight of operations/clinical decision-making aspects of the program and participate in periodic consultation with providers in assigned area; this position will oversee services including inventory procurement, information technology, revenue cycle management, narcotic distribution systems, and provision of specialty pharmacy services to all outpatients (discharge, clinic, and employees). Must be responsible to the organization to see that all clinicians are accountable to the organization for the decisions that affect consumers and are qualified and competent. Additional duties include, but are not limited to: establishing and upholding standards of quality, productivity, and performance according to URAC, ACHC, and T JC accreditation standards; complying with all state, federal, and local regulations including obtaining and maintaining unrestricted state licensures needed to provide service to defined service area for UK Specialty retail pharmacies and distribution centers; assuring adequate hiring of staff to support operations and maintaining appropriate staffing levels; supervising direct reports including annual performance evaluations and disciplinary action as necessary; and participating in development of new specialty pharmacy initiatives with Pharmacy Enterprise management and UK Healthcare leadership. Directly manages daily operations and has legal binding through Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) licensure to ensure the unit meets departmental and organizational goals in the UK Specialty Pharmacy. In the absence of the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC), the Director of Operations will assume all responsibilities or will designate an appropriately experienced pharmacist on that team to fulfill interim PIC duties. If the Director of Operations is also absent, a SCSP will determine which pharmacist should assume PIC duties. Internal Employee Being Considered (IEBC) Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Excellent leadership and communication skills (written and verbal); clinical experience; knowledge of federal and state pharmacy laws and regulations, as well as any other related laws and regulations; project management, inpatient drug distribution and dispensing, and supply chain and contract management experience; and the ability to prioritize; collaborate and work within a team; and motivate, lead, and educate a team. Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? Yes Preferred Education/Experience PGY1/PGY2 ASHP residency training and/or supervisory experience highly preferred.
