Become an integral member of the Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE) team, dedicated to protecting consumers and enterprises alike from cyber-attacks. We're looking for a Principal Engineering Manager to lead a team of developers to design and build the next generation of endpoint protection, optimizing for the latest silicon innovations and Windows OS enhancements. This includes championing fundamentals such as performance and reliability, scaling to platforms big and small, and driving foundational changes throughout the entire Defender stack. This team provides the potential for tremendous personal and career growth across many dimensions. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++ working in the Windows OS or related systems programming experience * OR equivalent experience. * 4+ years of engineering management experience * Experience in architecting and developing robust and extensible solutions Other Requirements: * Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications: * 6+ years people management experience * Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in C/C++ * OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in C/C++ * OR equivalent experience. Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
