Produces, assembles, and tests prototype components and models in This is a technical position reporting directly to the Management of Engineering. Responsibilities of this position will include the ability to use techniques to provide high quality models for product customer presentations, leading edge design evaluations and test fixtures. The ideal candidate shall be selfmotivated, work independently requiring minimum supervision while exemplifying a high degree of organization and technical skills. It will be necessary to work with functional Teams dealing directly with Zebra's technical staff, sales marketing, users, customers and provide direction to business partners to ensure that the goals and objectives are properly identified and achieved within the appropriate schedule requirements. Responsibilities: * Developement of complex mechanical prototypes through the creation of solid visual models and various prototypes using drawings and/or MCAD files in support the product life cycle development executing on prototyping activities, repair, rework or finishing of models and parts. * Works with internal teams to develop and maintain strategies for mechanical prototype technology roadmaps, procedures, processes, and specifications that impact all areas of design and manufacturing of mechanical parts. * Research ability to recommend the suitability and or validation of alternatives for prototype parts, mechanical design features, model fabrication and manufacturing techniques to achieve design requirements. * Support the model generation in all phases from concept to post-production which may include collaborating to develop new methods and tools outside the scope of prototyping necessary to complete the customer requirement. * Strong knowledge of area specific operations, precautions, prevention, signage for the protection of people, data, and property in accordance with EH&S, security, and IT regulations * Initiates collaboration with teams and externally to research/benchmark technologies for the implementation of new technologies and/or to enhance capabilities for the advancement of prototype development creating a competitive advantage with Zebra products. * Initiate the Lab's vendor/customer selection, negotiations, purchassing, equipment service contracts for materials and facilitate equipment maintainance. * Prepare and present status reports, lab metrics, budget forecast and execution, to ensure timely execution on required deliverables for business compliance. * Work within teams review and edit internal policies and procedures in order to comply with ISO requirements. * Support growth and development by providing training and coaching to junior level associates in the areas of prototype modeling. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications * 2 + years of prototype model making experience. * Experienced with mechanical prototyping equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. * Experience with FDM, SLA/LFS , PolyJet 3D printers * Proficient in following software * Creo Parametric * Keyshot * Materialize magics * Blender * PreForm * Stratasys GrabCAD Print * MS Office (Excel ,Word , PowerPoint) * Ability to read and interpret technical plans, MCAD technical drawings, and verbal instructions. * Proficient knowledge of mechanical prototyping design techniques and general principles. * In depth knowledge of industry standards relating to composition, structure, and properties of various materials including physical and chemical processes, and material transformations.
