Job Description: Job Summary: The International Student Advisor provides comprehensive admissions, academic, and immigration advising to international students. This role is responsible for providing excellent customer service while recruiting, advising, and enrolling international students in assigned programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Meet with prospective students and provide admissions advising using an organized interview procedure. * Respond to student inquiries and leads in a timely and professional manner. * Use ERP system to record all lead interactions, as well as to manage and message leads. * Participate in specialized and program-specific admissions/interviewing processes. * Assist new international students with application and registration processes, including registration and payment, following university policies and procedures for all new student paperwork processing. * Maintain files on all international students to ensure compliance with US immigration regulations. * Remain up-to-date on US immigration regulations related to F-1 visas and other non-immigrant visa categories. * Assist in conducting international student orientations and workshops. * Advise and counsel international students towards the successful completion of their established academic objectives. * Counsel international students on academic, immigration, cultural, and social issues. * Proactively contact students to learn their concerns and needs. * Act as a liaison for international students to other departments to resolve student issues. * Report student concerns to appropriate university departments or personnel. * Follow-up with students that have not re-registered. * Maintain relationships with specialized markets as assigned. * Participate in external activities and events as assigned. Represent City University of Seattle at community events and local civic organizations as assigned. * Participate in trainings, seminars, conferences, etc. as assigned. * Initiate and cultivate contacts with students, colleagues, organizations, and regulatory agencies. * Participate in the development and implementation of strategies and policies regarding international student advising. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. * Master's degree, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. * Knowledge of US immigration regulations related to F-1 and other non-immigrant visa categories required. * Work experience in international education preferred. * Experience living/studying abroad preferred. * Second language proficiency preferred. * Must demonstrate a high level of customer service, attention to detail, organization, problem-solving skills, and follow-through ability. * Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality. * Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision, effectively prioritize work, multi-task, and adjust to changing workloads and deadlines. * Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions and procedure manuals. * Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. * Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, faculty, and the public. * Ability to speak effectively before groups. * Demonstrated experience working with people of diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. * Proficiency with MS Office products; experience with PeopleSoft ERP preferred.
