Introduction \n GRADE 18\n LOCATION OF POSITION Board of Nursing\n4140 Patterson Avenue\nBaltimore, MD� 21215\n Main Purpose of Job The Board of Nursing, within the Maryland Department of Health, is responsible for ensuring\nsafe nursing practices, licensing and the certification of nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, nursing\nassistants, medication technicians, electrologists, and licensed direct-entry midwives.� The Board of Nursing approves in and out of state nursing education programs, is responsible for discipline to ensure safe\npractices, administers the Board's Safe Practice Program for impaired professionals, ensures that\nthe Board is in compliance with state and federal law, conducts surveys of educational programs, educates providers, consumers, and the legislature about safe nursing practices, participates in\nlegislative work groups, and supports legislation to further the safe practice of nursing and access\nto care.\n\n\nThe main purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Legislative Affairs in drafting\nregulations to ensure that the Board is informed about legislative updates and effectively\nrepresents the Board during the legislative session and in work groups that relate to nursing\npractice. The position will require coordinating with the Director of Legislative Affairs to\ndevelop and plan for regulatory changes.\n MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education:�� A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.\nExperience: Two years of experience evaluating, analyzing, researching and developing health care services, policies and programs.\nNotes:\n1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy or closely related field�for one year of the required experience.\n2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Doctorate degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy or closely related field�for the required experience. \n SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS The selected candidate MUST have 2 years of administrative work.\n DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The desired candidate should possess:\n\n\n Experience with Google Suites and Microsoft office\n Experience working with the public\n Experience with managing stakeholder workgroups preferred\n Experience conducting legislative research\n Experience with healthcare policy and regulation\n\n\n LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\n SELECTION PROCESS Applicants who meet the minimum (and selective) qualifications will be included in further evaluation. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.\n BENEFITS \n\nContractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\nLeave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\n\n\n FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS Online applications are highly recommended.
