Job Summary This position is responsible for picking up and delivering mail to City Hall, sorting mail at City Hall, and delivering Council and Planning & Zoning packets. Essential Functions 1. As scheduled, picks up morning mail Monday through Friday at the Grapevine Post Office. There are two assigned post office boxes and City Hall mail is available at the Bulk Mail Pick-Up Window. 2. Delivers Utility Billing and City Hall mail to the mailroom at City Hall. 3. Sorts the morning mail by department and places in appropriate mail boxes. 4. Delivers mail to the Mayor and Council members on Friday afternoons. 5. Delivers agenda packets to the Mayor and Council members and P&Z packets to Board members on Friday afternoon before a Tuesday Council meeting. 6. Ensures mail, Council, and P&Z packets are picked up and delivered to assigned areas in a safe and timely manner. 7. Ensures the safe keeping of P.O. box keys. 8. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position. 9. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position. 10. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers, and others in the course of daily work. Required Skills SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES * Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds. * Ability to provide excellent customer services including a desire to help customers regardless of their circumstance. * Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Previous experience in mail sorting/routing is desirable. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must furnish own dependable transportation and be able to provide automobile liability insurance in the amount required by Texas State law. Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and credit check. Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy. Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, and functional assessment screening (Level 1). WORKING CONDITIONS While performing the essential functions of this position, there will be routine and frequent exposure to: * Bright/dim light * Dusts and pollen * Extreme heat and/or cold * Wet or humid conditions * Traffic * Toxic/caustic chemicals * Other extreme hazards not listed above PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit or smell. The employee must occasionally lift, shovel, and carry 30 pounds and exert up to 60 pounds of force. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
