The incumbent is a Research Molecular Biologist/Microbiologist/Chemical Engineer in the Renewable Product Technology (RPT) Research Unit, National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research (NCAUR), Peoria, IL. The overall mission of RPT is to develop technologies that employ a variety of chemical, microbial, biochemical, and genetic approaches for converting agricultural materials into new marketable, sustainable, and environmentally acceptable value-added products. The incumbent is responsible for planning and conducting research to develop new and improved technologies for the conversion of agricultural feedstocks, food waste, and processing byproducts to marketable value-added products, such as biofuels, biochemicals, bioplastics, alternative proteins, and/or functional food ingredients that advance the U.S. bioeconomy and environmental sustainability. Incumbent will develop a stakeholder base to advocate for enhancing the research and to enable commercialization of products to meet mandated technology transfer objectives.
