Overview University Instructors (UI) is seeking dynamic face-to-face Lead Instructors with a passion for supporting students in grades 6-12 in math, science, or special education. In this role, under the direction of the University Instructors' team, the secondary lead Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating educational environment where children can develop their academic, social, and emotional skills. This role involves planning and delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning experience. University Instructors partners with schools to provide students with purposeful learning experiences led by inspirational educators. Responsibilities Curriculum Development and Instruction: * Develop and implement engaging secondary lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum and educational standards in math, science or special education). * Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active learning and participation. * Use a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. * Integrate technology and other innovative tools to enhance learning experiences. * Other Duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or School Administrator(s) Student Assessment and Evaluation: * Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and identify areas for improvement. * Provide timely and constructive feedback regarding academic performance and behavior. * Utilize assessment data to inform instructional practices and interventions. * Other Duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or School Administrator(s) Classroom Management: * Establish and enforce clear classroom rules and expectations to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment. * Address and manage behavioral issues promptly and effectively. * Create a supportive and respectful classroom culture that fosters mutual respect and cooperation. * Other Duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or School Administrator(s) Collaboration and Professional Development: * Work closely with colleagues, including assistant teachers, special education staff, and administration, to support student learning and development. * Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements. * Lead or contribute to school committees, events, and initiatives as needed. * Submit records related to attendance, student progress, and other UI program requirements on time. * Other Duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or School Administrator(s) * Attend evening, virtual ILC meetings Knowledge and Skills: * Bachelor's degree in Education, Math, Science, or Special Education * Must meet the Content Knowledge standards required for a provisional teaching license; valid teaching certification in secondary education preferred; * Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in a middle and/or high school setting. * Strong understanding of child development and elementary education best practices. * Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. * Passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students. Qualifications Education and Work Experience: As a successful applicant, you must have a passion for helping students succeed. Additionally, you will need to have the following: * Be eligible for a provisional state teaching license in the state of North Carolina * Be local to the area * Three years of experience leading instruction.
