Brooks Overview: For 50 years, Brooks Rehabilitation, headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., has been a comprehensive source for physical rehabilitation services. As a nonprofit organization, Brooks operates one of the nation's largest inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in the U.S. with 160 beds, a new 60 bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Jacksonville's Southern Gateway, one of the region's largest home healthcare agencies, 45 outpatient therapy clinics located throughout central and north Florida, a Center for Inpatient Rehabilitation in partnership with Halifax Health in Daytona Beach, the Brooks Rehabilitation Medical Group, two skilled nursing facilities, assisted living and memory care. Brooks will treat more than 60,000 patients through its system of care each year. In addition, Brooks operates the Clinical Research Center, which specializes in research for stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and more to advance the science of rehabilitation. Brooks also provides many low or no cost community programs and services such as the Brooks Clubhouse, Brooks Aphasia Center and Brooks Adaptive Sports and Recreation to improve the quality of life for people living with physical disabilities. Through collaboration with the Chief Operations Officer and the Facility Administrator, the Director of Rehabilitation is responsible for planning, administering, organizing, and controlling the management and delivery of therapy services within the assigned Brooks Skilled Nursing Facility. Time will be equally spent providing treatment and care of patients and administrative guidance and oversight of all therapy staff within the facility. Job Responsibilities: * Responsible for the daily operation of therapy services within the skilled nursing facility * Responsible for service recovery including rounding on patient/family members in short and long term care units * Responsible for Functional Maintenance Programs referral and discharge * Responsible for management of length of stay and reporting outcomes * Responsible for timely completion of all annual and quarterly long term care screens * Provides input into annual budget development; responsible for ensuring adherence to the established budget * Demonstrates the ability to understand monthly profit and loss statements, volume reports and payer mix data to drive revenue, improve efficiency, and contain costs * Responsible for setting PDPM CMG as based on therapy evaluation(s) and scheduling appropriate patient treatment to meet evaluation recommendations * Responsible for management of commercial insurance payers including understanding contract and levels of care * Responsible for tracking falls and implementation of post fall interventions set forth by the interdisciplinary team * Responsible for leading weekly utilization review meetings and monitoring patients for progress * Represents therapy at unit meetings and physician rounds * Responsible for adhering to all compliance and regulatory standards pertaining to patient treatment and delivery of care * Responsible for ensuring all documentation is completed within required timeframes and accurately reflects the therapy services provided * Performs quality assurance, chart audits, and monthly reporting * Responsible for management of therapy staff to include facility orientation, scheduling, performance management, timecard review, and career development * Establishes and maintains professional relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team within the unit, as well as with referral sources to promote the Skilled Nursing Unit * Ensures appropriate training is provided to new employees on unit policies and procedures, computer systems, and documentation process * Maintains therapy services policies and procedures * Identifies facility and clinical process improvement opportunities * Responsible for manager on call duties -covering weekend scheduling in absence of lead therapist Job Qualifications: * Degree from an accredited clinical program required (PT, OT, SLP) * Minimum of 1-year management experience preferably in a skilled nursing environment * Knowledge of PDPM CMG and Medicare standards of care and therapy delivery * Knowledge of orthopedic post-surgical populations is a plus * Ability to utilize clinical software to collect, analyze, and interpret data * Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills * Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization * Ability to manage multiple priorities * Strong decision making, problem solving, and judgment skills required This position is located at University Crossing, our Joint Commission certified, three story, 82,000 square-foot, 111 bed facility.
