JR & Co. is seeking an experienced, certified Crane Operator (FT) in Colorado Springs, Colorado to join our energetic, family-oriented construction company. Candidates should have an NCCCO certification with TLL and TSS designations, 2-4 years of experience, and a Class A CDL. A basic knowledge of roofing is a plus. This is a permanent position located in Colorado Springs, CO. Position Overview: Heavy Equipment operators (Crane Operators) are responsible for a variety of material-moving equipment daily according to schedule and instructions, choosing and setting up the right crane or lift truck for the safe hoisting of equipment and material. They will keep all DOT regulation logs up to date. Crane Operators will also drive trucks and transport supplies when crane is not in use. Essential Job Functions: * Inspect machines and equipment daily, perform routine maintenance procedures and minor repairs as required and initiate additional repair requests from mechanics when necessary. * Ensure equipment lift accessories are in good working condition. * Inspect cables for wear and install or replace cables, as needed under Fleet Mechanic supervision. * Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload. * Inspect bundle packaging for conformance to regulations or customer requirements and remove and batch packaging tickets. * Direct helpers engaged in placing blocking or outrigging under cranes. * Direct truck drivers backing vehicles into loading bays and cover, uncover, or secure loads for delivery. * Ensure cargo is properly secured prior to transporting. * Signal others to coordinate vehicle movement. * Provide additional support to other crane operators as necessary, including working overtime if necessary to complete tasks. * Control cranes, lifts and other equipment using standard operating procedures to ensure effective transportation of materials and safety for all personnel on site. * Maintain visual and radio contact with ground operators according to best practices and site safety regulations and respond to questions and instructions clearly and quickly. * Move levers, depress foot pedals, or turn dials to operate cranes, cherry pickers, lift trucks, or other moving equipment for lifting, moving, or placing loads. * Maintain and update DOT driver log information daily. * Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Minimum Education and Experience * 2-4 years of Heavy Equipment experience * High School Diploma or GED * OSHA-10 Certification (or be willing to obtain pre-employment) * Commercial Driver's License - Class A * NCCCO Certification with TLL, TSS designations * DOT Certification (Medcard) (or obtain pre-employment) /DOT National Clearing House clearance * Required Skills and Abilities including Physical and Work Environment: * Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. * Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. * Skill necessary to maneuver large mobile equipment within moving traffic or limited access areas. * Controlling operations of equipment or systems. * Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. * Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. * Maintain required certification for equipment assigned to operate. * The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions. * The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion. * The ability to judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from you, or to judge the distance between you and an object. * The ability to see details at a distance. * The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). * The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. * The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted. * The ability to know your location in relation to the environment or to know where other objects are in relation to you. * The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 60% walking, and 30% standing.
