Join us and help shape the future of senior living! Overview: At Maplewood Senior Living, we manage a portfolio of assisted living and skilled nursing communities across five states. As the CFO, you will be responsible for leading the accounting and finance departments and overseeing all the financial activities of our active and development communities. You will play a critical role in financial decision-making and strategy, helping to drive the company's financial stability and growth while ensuring compliance with all regulatory bodies. The CFO's duties also include tracking cash flow and financial planning as well as analyzing the company's financial strengths and weaknesses and proposing corrective actions. Key Responsibilities: * Financial Management, Forecasting, Modeling, and Budgeting: * Holds ultimate responsibility for all budgets, forecasts, models, financial statements, external reporting, and cash forecasts. * With the help of a Manager of FP&A and an analyst, takes a hands-on approach to maintaining financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, performing scenario modeling, initiating corrective actions, and communicating to leadership the impact of variances. * Has a "roll up your sleeves" mentality-will create reports and modeling in Enterprise Planning Management System, Excel, Power BI, etc. to assist Operations, Finance, and Executive teams. * Reporting: * Review detailed monthly and annual financial reports that include profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and forecasts. * Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends to assist the CEO, board members, and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities. * Responsible for the review of the audited annual financial statements to ensure that they are prepared in accordance with GAAP. * Ability to prioritize competing tasks in a demanding environment and pivot where necessary * Thrives in a dynamic environment to provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to co-CEOs. * Cash Management: * Oversees the cash management and treasury functions, including the establishment of bank accounts and relationships required to administer the financial functions of the company * Maintains the company's 13-week cash flow and prepares cash flow forecasts in accordance with investor requests. * Internal Controls and Compliance: * Establish and maintain strong internal controls to ensure accuracy of financial transactions and reporting, and compliance with current laws and regulations. * Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting. * Strategic Planning: * Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models. * Interact with other managers providing consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations. * Risk Management and Data Integrity: * Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile. * Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry. * Collaborates with VP of Business Intelligence and Director of IT to maintain the integrity of data across all systems with a clear responsibility matrix and data connection flowchart. * Financing: * Engage financial institutions for necessary funding to ensure the company has the financial resources required for ongoing operations and future growth. * Team Management: * Manage the accounting and finance department staff, including the Controller, accountants, AP, billing, payroll, and financial analysts. * Must continue to keep apprised of new accounting pronouncements to ensure the accounting team is continuously maintaining compliance with the latest standards. * Recruit, train, and retain skilled financial personnel. * Enact corrective action plans where necessary to improve performance for team members. Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification: * Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business. * CPA required. MBA preferred. * Proven experience as CFO, finance officer, or relevant role. * Experience in the senior living industry, healthcare, or real estate is highly desirable. * In-depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices. * Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods. * Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (Vena experience a plus). * Ability to strategize and solve problems. * Strong leadership and organizational skills. * Excellent communication and people skills. * An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers.
