The Media Relations Assistant will be involved in all aspects of specified Towson sports, as well as perform other duties in the Towson Athletics Media Relations department. Primary responsibilities include: * Assisting with game day duties at athletic events * Aiding in creating content and helping to further develop initiatives in new/social media and multimedia on the department's official website * Preparing athletic press releases and statistics for website and media outlets * Serving as the primary sports contact for assigned sports * Coordinating the preparation of media coverage for award nominations * Overseeing media interviews for coaches and student-athletes to generate publicity and exposure * Covering home events and special projects/events * Managing in-game scoring statistics and game day operations for various sports The work hours for this position include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Travel is required. This position is a full-time, 6-month contractual position. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree * Proficiency in social media platforms, primarily Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram * Ability to create press releases and deliver quickly in a professional manner * Working knowledge of statistical programs used by the NCAA, including Statcrew and Genius Sports * Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop Preferred Qualification: * One year of experience in athletics media relations or a related field, including experience as a graduate assistant or student employee
