PURPOSE: The Production Planning Manager utilizes output from the Supply Plan to develop production schedules, considering inventory and labor availability and production lead times. Adjusts production schedules as needed in response to changes in demand, materials, or other resources. Oversees the Purchasing function to ensure availability of raw materials and advises internal stakeholders on availability of finished product. Responsible for the overseeing and managing the performance of the Scheduling and Purchasing teams. To be successful, the manager must deeply understand each employee's role and the Calumet inventory, purchasing and scheduling systems. Cross functional collaboration and coordination are pivotal to success. KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Oversee scheduling and purchasing employees' performance and development. * Monitor on hand inventory levels at Distribution Centers and offsite 3rd party vendors to make sure sufficient stock is available to fill customer orders. * Continuously evaluate potential constraints in raw material supply, blending and production processes. * In collaboration with IBP, help to alleviate bottlenecks and/or mitigate risk to business disruption. * Track & report Schedule Adherence/on time completion of late production orders. Analyze scheduling effectiveness and that proper workload is planned for shop floor. * Prepare relevant data for business reports and regular reviews. * Calculate line capacities both for daily & monthly output - find ways to load level production if production needs are over capacity. * Collaborate with Product Management and Operations to optimize tank utilization, where best to store raw fluids (bulk, totes, etc). * Calculate blending capacities and tank turn rates - identify bottlenecks and work with operations team to scope capital improvement projects. * Evaluate production staffing and shift requirements ensuring labor usage is optimized to maintain plant throughput and meet customer demand. * Manage phase out of old materials/finished goods and implement production on new SKU's. * Monitor dead/slow moving inventory - advise Product Management of products that are not moving in collaboration with Finance/Accounting. * Check for opportunities to rework non-conforming and dead stock products. * Monitor stocking targets for all distribution centers and offsites for raw materials and finished goods. * Pallet optimization (finished goods) of DC availability. * Involvement in RFC on materials and finished goods * Oversee management of MRP data for finished goods, maintain & modify directed by Product Management. * Communicate with Customer Service & the Distribution Center of production timing and any major unexpected delays that impact shipment. * Maintain Scheduling Dept. SOP's, updating, obsoleting & creating new ones where necessary. * Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES: * Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred. * 3+ years management experience * 5+ years planning/scheduling experience in a manufacturing or CPG environment * Equivalent combination of education and experience * Proficiency in Microsoft Office * Proficiency in SAP, or other ERP syste PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES * Chemical, fuel or lubricant industry * Hazardous materials COMPETENCIES: * Business Acumen & Partnership - Demonstrated ability to understand the business and align activity to meet business and employee needs at both strategic and operational levels. * Delivers Results - Attentive to detail and demonstrated ability to deliver on accountabilities to help the business and the team be successful.
