Job Summary Cirrus Flight Instructor's provide industry-leading, learner-centric flight training for the achievement of private pilot certificates, instrument ratings, advanced pilot certifications and ratings. To meet the demands of discerning customers who look for the absolute best, training is provided in iconic Cirrus Aircraft airplanes. Training follows a structured syllabus with proprietary course material for streamlined training to support the learning process. Ancillary duties include identifying and communicating pilot progression and opportunities, record keeping, safety management, flight planning and preparation, lesson planning and preparation, complex problem solving, mastery of subject matter material, and recommending processes improvements. Duties include acting as pilot in command of Cirrus aircraft while performing 14 CFR part 91 corporate flight operations (demonstration, repositioning, and post-maintenance flights) when needed, flight reviews, proficiency checks, and other similar pilot and flight instructor duties. Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions * Adhere to all industry and Cirrus established safety procedures and policies when performing job duties * Provide excellent and professional customer service * Make timely and accurate decisions regarding safety of flight * Conduct training events following program guidance and requirements * Provide flight and ground instruction per standards defined in Cirrus policy and procedure documents. * Meticulously record all training event activities and results in pilot training records * Recommend students for FAA written and practical tests * Training events consist of flight lessons in aircraft, one-on-one ground instruction, and classroom ground instruction * Implement a variety of training techniques to accommodate differences in learning styles and needs * Assess pilot performance in the psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domains for each training event * Discover opportunities to customize training events to fit individual student needs * Act as pilot in command of Cirrus aircraft while performing corporate flight missions, ferry flights, internal training flights, and demonstration flights * Perform normal pre-flight and post flight inspections as well as clean, fuel, add oil and de-ice fluid, update chart subscriptions, etc. * Attend and lead pilot safety briefings * Manage travel expenses in accordance with Cirrus company policies * Continuous learning of the latest developments in the Cirrus Aircraft line of aircraft products * Process and maintain a deep level of aircraft knowledge and be a model aviator, flight instructor, and Cirrus representative * Provide feedback for program improvements * Identify needs to escalate concerns as appropriate * Maintain communication with students as required pre- and post- training * Enhance flight safety by providing excellent, high quality, and standardized flight and ground instruction * Develop effective methods of safety communication, recordkeeping, ramp operations, and fleet management for flying club functions * Maintain communication with students as required pre- and post- training * Assist with company standardization flights to ensure company pilots are operating within company standards * Provide flight and ground instruction per standards defined in Cirrus policy and procedure documents. * Make timely and accurate decisions regarding safety of flight * Manage travel expenses in accordance with Cirrus company policies * Act as pilot in command of Cirrus aircraft while performing corporate flight missions, ferry flights, internal training flights, and demonstration flights * Perform normal pre-flight and post flight inspections as well as clean, fuel, add oil and de-ice fluid, update chart subscriptions, etc. * Move aircraft safely and efficiently on the Cirrus ramp * All other duties as assigned Required Education, Experience or License: * Current and active FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI and CFII) required * Current 1st or 2nd Class FAA Medical required * 750 hours acting as instructor required Preferred Education, Experience or License: * IFR in congested airspace, mountain flying, extensive IMC, international flight, and night experience preferred * 350 hours Cirrus Aircraft experience preferred * Hold CSIP or equivalent preferred Additional Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: * Proven record of successful flight instruction commensurate with experience required * Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required * Courseware development experience is preferred * Presentation skills * Professional appearance * Identify and effectively communicate pilot progression, deficiencies, barriers, and needs using the common language of the Fundamentals of Instruction Competencies To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: * Proven record of successful flight instruction commensurate with experience required * Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required * Courseware development experience is preferred * Presentation skills * Professional appearance * Identify and effectively communicate pilot progression, deficiencies, barriers, and needs using the common language of the Fundamentals of Instruction Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this position.
