This position is with the KDHE Bureau of Epidemiology and Public Health Informatics and will have a hybrid schedule. The incumbent in this position will work collaboratively with the KS Violent Death Reporting System Program Coordinator to collect, review, analyze and abstract all incoming data related to unintentional and undetermined drug overdose deaths occurring in KS using the CDC-National Violent Deaths Reporting System database, including but not limited to the following: death certificates, coroner and medical examiner reports, state and local law enforcement reports, notes to the files, toxicology reports, and news articles. Disseminate case information, correspondence, reports, newsletters, or press releases to external partners in accordance with confidentiality requirements. Represent the agency by attending, exhibiting and presenting at local, state and national conferences. Participate in CDC technical assistance work group calls for SUDORS. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Participate in required CDC OD2A meetings, including a virtual Emergency Department quality and reporting work group. Assist in the development and promotion of the RFP, assist in the selection of local subrecipients through RFP process, assist in the execution of formal contracts/subrecipient agreements and monitor contracts/subrecipient agreements. Participate in a data-focused group to review and update maps of high burden areas. Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive, multimodal communication plan that combines surveillance and prevention communication activities. This position will provide technical assistance to local grantees (OD2A high burden regions and others) and assure program elements are completed and compiled in accordance with approved program timelines. Assist in the development of local action plans in targeted areas, implement prevention/response EBIs and assist in the development of performance monitoring and evaluation plans. Assist in the development of a performance monitoring tool for sub-awardee progress reporting and process evaluation using the Community Tool Box. Conduct hospital-based QI initiatives to promote safer prescribing and decrease risk of opioid-involved harms. Qualifications * Education: * MPH/MS degree. * Licensing & Certification: * Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State. * Minimum Qualifications: * MPH/MS degree. * 4 years of experience in epidemiology. * Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in developing action plans or executing projects. * Experience in public health or program evaluation. * Skills in data analysis. * Good communication skills verbally and in writing. * Experience with large databases. * Proofreading, editing, attention to detail. * Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
