Under the direction of the COO, the Associate Vice President of Education oversees six direct reports who manage the overall operations and supervision of the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg's youth education programs. These programs include, three early childhood education centers, nineteen before and after school elementary age sites, four middle school sites, and twelve, Y Reads literacy sites. The AVP leads a team that organizes and implements high quality education programs, meeting licensing requirements and high educational standards. The AVP also oversees all external relationships with State and local agencies, and with our partner agencies who fund and support education for youth. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Provides strategic direction, and is responsible for overall operational performance for the preschools, the Y Reads literacy program, and the elementary and middle school programs. * Leads, trains, and supervises all Directors, ensuring that all programs meet annual plans, budgets and goals. * Develops strategies to motivate staff that help achieve the associations goals in line with the annual strategic plan. * Assists in the development and management of each of the five departments budget. * Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. * Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed. * Develops and maintains relationships with the PCLB, JWB, ELC, and the PCSB. * Responds to agency, parent, and community inquiries as needed in a timely manner. * Provides staff leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned. * Ensures compliance pertaining to proper records/department files. * Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. * Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program. QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree required. * Master's Degree strongly preferred, or a minimum of 10 years of experience in an education leadership position. * Requires an extensive background in Early Childhood Education. * Preferred candidate will have experience in preschool accreditation and multi-unit management. Experience in Elementary Education, Child Development, School Administration, or closely related field will be considered. * The ideal candidate will have an understanding of grant and contract management, along with extensive understand of budgeting. Excellent organizational, planning, communication and computer skills is required. * Must possess excellent leadership and development skills and a proven track record of building relationships with staff, parents and community partners.
