Overview VTG is seeking a Journeyman Analyst Technical Publications Writer at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. This position will provide support for the AMCOM Logistics Center (ALC) with the review, verification/validation, and preparation of Technical Publication Materials for modifications for all supported customers. What will you do? * Assist in establishing style guidelines and standards for technical manual texts and illustrations in compliance with all military standards and regulations. * Follows process and procedures established by DMWR team Process Lead, under direction from Government Technical Lead, in completion of tasks assigned by DMWR Task Lead. * Verifies accuracy of technical documentation to ensure it is complete, meets editorial and government specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style. * Develop, revise, edit, and write accurate and grammatically correct equipment publications and other technical documentation in accordance with requirements, required standards and specifications, and style and format requirements. * Performs in-process reviews of developing material with technical writers and graphics development personnel to ensure documents will be within the scope and understanding of field users. * Provides support documentation i.e.: Military Specifications, Military Standards, Statements of Work (SOWs), Military Hand Books, or Performance Specifications when guidance/recommendations are made as justification for the scheduled changes to any technical publications material. * Reviews engineer drawings and compare the contents to the text to provide guidance on capturing information for all procedural requirements that are incorporated in the technical content. * Review and update (revisions / changes) Missile and Aviation systems publications (e.g., Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWRs), Technical Manuals (TMs), Technical Bulletin's (TBs), and Modification Work Orders (MWOs). * Scan Government publications and convert them to PDFs. * Assist in developing, cataloging, and configuring legacy publication files for the "virtual vault." * Provides recommendations for technical content, flow, and format in accordance with military standards for installation, documented deficiencies, and provides daily updates to the Technical Documentation Lead. * Interfaces daily with outside contract agency and specified Government personnel, to ensure documentation and clarity is captured during the validation and verification process technical manuals and provides guidance on verbiage and structure of the documents. * Performs verification of contractor provided publications, record discrepancies, recommend corrections with supporting documentation, and provide the data to the verification Team Leader. * Performs source data validation to ensure revisions and changes are made only to authenticated publications. * Scan Government publications and convert them to PDFs. * Assist in developing, cataloging, and configuring legacy publication files for the "virtual vault." Do you have what it takes? Required Skills: * BS/BA Degree and three years of experience or; * High School Diploma and six years of experience; * Must have and maintain an active DoD Secret Security Clearance. Preferred Qualifications: * Knowledge of Army aviation-related technical manuals; * Previous experience in aviation field; * Aviation crewmember or maintenance experience is a plus.
