Senior Data Science Consultant, Responsible AI (P3867) Summary As Senior Data Science Consultant, you are joining a community of analysts, data scientists, and software engineers who work collaboratively to drive business value via our rich first-party data. The AI Enablement Team is seeking a Senior Data Science Consultant to help build upon and grow our focus on Responsible AI and Science. An ideal candidate has experience as an applied data scientist and is passionate about moving into a role focused on implementing ethical practices into data science and research. Interested talent should feel comfortable operating with support in a space that is rapidly changing, ambiguous, and organizationally complex. This role will focus on helping us operationalize and democratize responsible AI practices. Responsibilities: A Senior Data Scientist in this role will be expected to: * Support and drive adoption around responsible AI and Data Science practices (data privacy, algorithm fairness/bias mitigation, etc) through thought leadership, guidance/consulting, and governance practices. * Advocate for the importance of mitigating implicit biases and other practices that may negatively affect the quality of data sets and insights; may violate Kroger customers' expectations; or may damage consumer trust in Kroger's brands. * Consult with teams ranging in technical knowledge on appropriate applications of Responsible AI * Research and understand industry trends to ensure 84.51° remains at the forefront of best practices. Collaborate with academic and industry partners where relevant. * Serve as a SME within our responsible AI committee to understand algorithm and data ethics needs in our business * Partner with Data governance, business teams and cross-functional partners to ensure both responsible AI and Science Review standards are seamlessly integrated into how we work * Stress test governance tooling from a user experience perspective, blending experience as a data scientist and understanding of responsible AI audit and control needs * Develop and/or consult on in-line controls into emerging AI and science development patterns * Support and lead training, documentation and implementation of centralized Responsible AI and Science Review processes All Senior Data Scientists at 84.51° are expected to: * Effectively manage projects, tasks and stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to brief specification while ensuring minimal downtime and maximum utilization. * Work closely with key internal stakeholders to ensure sound knowledge of business objectives and customer insight, to subsequently design and build best-in-class analytic solutions/processes at scale. * Identifying opportunities for standardization & automation of existing solutions and processes to enable 84.51° to realize the maximum potential from our teams. * Partner with full stack technical teams to embed and harmonize solutions * Perform Quality Assurance of own code and that of team members to ensure the highest quality work is being delivered to our clients. * Think creatively when building analytics solutions to bring the most value to the user, balancing analytical rigor and practicality * Challenge and improve 84.51° analytical capabilities/products. Qualifications, Skills, and Experience: Qualifications & Experience Skills Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, or similar discipline; Cross-disciplinary experience a plus 2+ years of experience in extracting insights from large databases, translating market research into actionable solutions and presenting findings and recommendations to clients or stakeholders 2+ years of experience using advanced algorithms, programming languages, or technologies in the development of technical analytics solutions or capabilities. Focus on ethics and standards in data science is a plus, but not required 2+ years of experience in tech consulting, retail or related professional services Hands-on experience using Python, R or other similar statistical software to develop analytical solutions Experience with data wrangling, data cleaning and prep, dimensionality reduction Experience with Big Data concepts, tools, and architecture Knowledge of AI/ML tools and applications to solve business problems Ability to monitor, identify, and recommend mitigations for risks tied to AI/ML use cases. Excellent communication skills, particularly on technical topics and with senior leadership Strong analytical, creative problem-solving and decision-making skills Data visualization skills and ability to present technical solutions to non-technical audiences Strong business acumen: grocery and/or retail experience is a plus Passionate about data, analysis, and insights Natural curiosity that welcomes and embraces change and willingness to try new things and to fail Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment * Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data. In addition to salary, this position is also eligible for variable compensation.
