Job Description: The Center for Experience & Opportunity (CEO) is your central hub for experiential learning at McDaniel College. Experiential learning encompasses all things that are done outside of the classroom to deepen students learning and to prepare them for what comes next. These opportunities include on-campus positions and work-study, undergraduate and graduate fellowships and scholarships, pre-professional programs, study abroad, internships, service learning & community engagement, graduate school preparation, career development, and job search. Our mission is to connect students to experiences and opportunities designed to enhance their classroom learning, support their career exploration and aspirations, and deepen their connection to local and global communities. Reporting to the Executive Director of the CEO, the Graduate Assistant (GA) for International Programs will support student advising, programs and events, and assist with administrative tasks for the International Program division of the CEO. The GA is expected to work up to 21 hours a week. To receive (one) 3-credit hour graduate course for coursework that is not included in the Counselor Education program, the GA must work 125 hours per semester. To receive (one) 3-credit hour graduate course for coursework that is included in the Counselor Education program, the GA must work 140 hours per semester. Specific Responsibilities * Conduct 1:1 appointments with students regarding study abroad. * Assist with the administrative work of study abroad (e.g., processing application documents, and managing email accounts) * Help market and recruit for study abroad applications, including following best practices for recruiting underrepresented populations * Assist with study abroad promotional events including Fairs and presentations * Maintain records and data in the online study abroad database. * Staff tabling events at various campus locations. * Work on special projects and provide support to staff, programs, and services. Requirements: Qualifications * Enrolled in a graduate program at McDaniel College in counseling, human resources, or a related field. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Comfortable with public speaking. * Demonstrate initiative, time management and attention to detail. * Proficient in MS Office Suite * Professional demeanor is a must * Preference for someone with study abroad or other international experience. Physical Characteristics This position requires sitting for long periods of time, as well as some bending and stooping when working with files. This position does have some limited lifting involved but not more than 10 pounds at a time. Quite a bit of finger/hand dexterity is involved in regard to typing and/or filing. The overall setting of the job is in an area conducive to a normal office environment with minimal exposure to adverse conditions.
