Overview The Division of Environmental Health at the Vermont Department of Health has an exciting opportunity for a professional interested in protecting public health. We are looking for a well-organized person skilled at communicating clearly who wants to ensure Vermonters live, work, learn, and play in healthy environments. This position will support the Division of Environmental Health's Asbestos and Lead Regulatory Program team in a variety of ways including communicating with the public about safe asbestos and lead work practices and performing worksite inspections. Lead and asbestos are highly toxic compounds both with serious but preventable health effects. This is a dynamic position that includes both desk and field work and collaboration with state and local officials and the building industry. This position will work under the general supervision of the Asbestos and Lead Program Manager. We will provide the training you need on the topics of asbestos and lead. EXAMPLES OF WORK: * Perform worksite inspections * Assist contractors with understanding the lead and asbestos regulations and performing safe work practices safe * Respond to requests for information from the public about lead and asbestos hazards * Assist with the development of educational materials TELEWORK: The Department of Health supports a hybrid work environment.
