Requisition ID: 174055 Job Level: Mid Level Home District/Group: Eastern District Department: Field Supervision Market: Power Employment Type: Full Time Position Overview As a Superintendent, you will play a significant part in the success for Kiewit. You will function as a field supervisor overseeing construction project operations and may have responsibility for multiple foremen, and/or laborers/craft workers. You with be responsible for the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specification, workmanship, and assignment of work to accomplish project goals, either directly or through general foreman or foreman. You will also work to maintain positive working relationships with clients, architect/engineer, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff. District Overview Kiewit's Eastern District specializes in challenging heavy civil construction projects throughout the Northeast, including the metropolitan areas of New York, Chicago, Boston, and Washington DC. We are leaders in bridge, transit, foundation, tunnel, and water/wastewater construction while specializing in cast-in-place concrete, structural steel erection, earthwork, pile driving, and caissons. Kiewit's Eastern District also has a large amount of work in the energy/power sector in various northeast locations. With our experienced and dedicated employees, extensive resources and in-depth market knowledge, the Eastern District can handle projects of any size. Location This person will work on construction projects located outside of Chicago IL and, potentially, Milwaukee WI. If preferred, this person will be able to keep their home base in Chicago and travel to their assigned project site. Weekly travel allowance will be provided to assist with duplicate housing based on assigned project location. Responsibilities * Act as a field supervisor overseeing construction operations on the project. * Mentor and help to grow junior superintendents and other direct reports. * Review and approve the balance of foremen, journeymen, and laborer's composite labor rates. * Manage contract administration (subcontractor/field management meeting for communication). * Develop a program to maintain good client relations involving staff on site. * Initiate and attend supplementary and regular meetings with client for problem resolution and planning. * Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections. * Review, approve, and negotiate change orders. * Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover. * Create, update, review, and maintain daily reports and logs for record keeping purposes. * Ensure that all performance evaluations are completed and documented in a timely fashion for direct reports. * Recommend organizational, policy, procedural, and/or staff changes as needed. * Review, approve, and/or reject promotions up to General Foremen. Qualifications * 8 years of work experience in the construction industry, with at least 3 years being in a supervisory type of role. * Previous knowledge/experience working on solar projects, heavy civil infrastructure projects, and similar. * Ability to travel to projects and/or offices located in Illinois outside of Chicago and, potentially, Milwaukee, WI (travel allowance provided based on project location). * Knowledge of various construction disciplines, union agreements and jurisdictional issues, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documents. * Demonstrated ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate craft performance. * Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative. * Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time. * Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity. * Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt. * Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. * Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives. * Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail. #LI-HW1 Other Requirements: * Regular, reliable attendance * Work productively and meet deadlines timely * Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. * Perform work safely and effectively.
