Remember to SAVE your entries.   This position is located at NC Correctional Institution for Women in Raleigh NC, Wake County. Reporting to the to the Correctional Captain III, this position job responsibilities include the following: * Assisting in planning, supervising, and coordinating activities in a close-custody institution * Supervises Correctional Sergeant III's and may serve as the Officer-in-Charge in absence of the Captain. *  Responsibilities level is distinguished from Correctional Lieutenant II based on increased staffing totals, supervision for the most dangerous and non-compliant offenders, larger offender's population totals and the complexity of the facility operations which generally includes restrictive and controlled housing * Assisting in planning and supervising personnel actions, administrative affairs, officers' work schedules and coordinating activities involving discipline, security, and the welfare of the offender's population Responsibilities are primarily custodial in nature serving as an assistant shift supervisor because of the large staffing structure. This is an INTERNAL POSTING open ONLY for current employees of the NC Department of Adult Correction and eligible RIF candidates from NC State Government. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The selected candidate may be selected to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staff coverage. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result. About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC): The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws.  This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision.  Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.   North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW), in Raleigh, is the state's primary correctional facility for women. It houses the largest offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the state's other female prisons. The campus-style facility sits on 30 acres of a 190-acre tract of state land in southeast Raleigh. NCCIW houses offenders of all custody levels and control statuses, including death row, maximum, close, medium, minimum, safekeepers and youth. It provides the primary medical, mental, and alcohol and chemical dependency treatment for female offenders. The facility operates a diagnostic center that serves as the point of entry into the prison system for women. Upon arrival, offenders undergo a series of diagnostic evaluations that will determine future prison assignments.  The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. We will not review resumes in lieu of Experience and Education listed on the application.     To qualify for this position, applicants must document in the work experience section of the application that they possess ALL of the following:   * Documented experience with report writing. * Documented knowledge of Prison Policies and Procedures/or Facility Operations. High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three years of experience as a Correctional Sergeant, or two years of experience as a Correctional Sergeant III; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.
