Reporting to the to the Correctional Captain III, this position job responsibilities include the following: * Assisting in planning, supervising, and coordinating activities in a close-custody institution * Supervises Correctional Sergeant III's and may serve as the Officer-in-Charge in absence of the Captain. *  Responsibilities level is distinguished from Correctional Lieutenant II based on increased staffing totals, supervision for the most dangerous and non-compliant offenders, larger offender's population totals and the complexity of the facility operations which generally includes restrictive and controlled housing * Assisting in planning and supervising personnel actions, administrative affairs, officers' work schedules and coordinating activities involving discipline, security, and the welfare of the offender's population Responsibilities are primarily custodial in nature serving as an assistant shift supervisor because of the large staffing structure. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The selected candidate may be selected to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staff coverage. About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC): The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws.  This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision.  Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.   North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW), in Raleigh, is the state's primary correctional facility for women. It houses the largest offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the state's other female prisons. The campus-style facility sits on 30 acres of a 190-acre tract of state land in southeast Raleigh. NCCIW houses offenders of all custody levels and control statuses, including death row, maximum, close, medium, minimum, safekeepers and youth. It provides the primary medical, mental, and alcohol and chemical dependency treatment for female offenders. The facility operates a diagnostic center that serves as the point of entry into the prison system for women.
