What you'll do... Position: Software Engineer III Job Location: 860 W California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086 Duties: Build and operate highly scalable backend software services that can serve millions of requests per day to enable the advertising platforms on Walmart's and its subsidiaries' websites. Design and develop low latency REST APIs using SpringBoot and play framework in Java and Scala. Utilize Azure SQL and Cassandra as storage systems to enable Ad Campaign Management by advertisers and in a self-serve fashion. Leverage open-source distributed systems including Apache Storm and Kafka to build high performance and scalable software solutions to improve the latencies of the AdTech Platform. Develop monitoring and alerting dashboards for services and data pipelines in Splunk. Utilize public cloud tools and resources to scale storage and computations in Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure and to improve performance and cost reduction. Participate in engineering efforts in the software development lifecycle like technical design, code reviews, production deployment, and post-production support through monitoring tools and disaster recovery. Participate in initiatives to roll out new software features and products from the initial prototype to large scale applications using variety of languages and technology stacks that are containerized using Docker and deployed through Kubernetes in the public cloud. Participate in 24/7 on call rotations and troubleshoot production issues across cross-functional teams. Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems Management, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year of experience in software engineering or related area; OR Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems Management, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years of experience in software engineering or a related area. Skills required: Experience designing and implementing REST API using Java and Spring Boot. Experience coding in object oriented language Java. Experience working with programming languages JavaScript and Scala. Experience working with TypeORM or hibernate object relational mapping tools. Experience working on at least one of the following public cloud providers: Azure, GCP, or AWS. Experience testing and troubleshooting using JUnit and Mockito frameworks. Experience working with relational database systems. Experience building asynchronous applications using Kafka or RabbitMQ. Experience utilizing Docker or Kubernetes containerization tools. Experience with package management services Artifactory or Nexus. Experience with release management tools Jenkins or Gitlab CI. Experience creating and maintaining alerts and dashboards using Grafana. Experience improving the code quality and maintainability using testing frameworks, code quality tools, and disaster recovery mechanisms. Experience in end-to-end software development lifecycle. Experience working in a collaborative cross functional environment and participating in 24/7 on call product support. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills. Salary Range: $117,000/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.  Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
