Position Type: Administration/Director Date Posted: 7/15/2024 Location: EDUCATIONAL SERVICE CENTER (ESC) Closing Date: Open Until Filled   Additional Information: Show/Hide INTERIM Director - K12 Schools For best consideration, please submit online application by July 31, 2024 GENERAL SUMMARY The Interim Director of K-12 Schools works in concert with the Executive Directors for Elementary and Secondary Education to provide leadership support for K-12 School administrators. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Foster positive relationships with parents, community members, and external stakeholders to enhance support for school initiatives and programs. * Collaborate with district leadership to develop and implement policies and procedures that support effective school operations, discipline management, and student safety. * Provide leadership and guidance to building principals in discipline, safety protocols, and overall school operations. * Serve as a point of contact for parents to ensure their concerns are heard and appropriately managed, maintaining open lines of communication and fostering trust within the school community. * Support and mentor building principals to enhance their leadership capabilities and ensure district goals and policies are aligned. * Monitor school safety measures and protocols, collaborating with principals and stakeholders to maintain a secure learning environment. * Support Executive Directors in building principals' evaluation and professional growth planning, aligning evaluations with district standards and goals. * Represent the district in meetings, conferences, and community events to advocate for student success and promote district initiatives. * Partner with school district leaders to plan and facilitate effective meetings that support the work of assistant principals, principals, and associate administrators. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS This position reports to the Executive Directors of Elementary and Secondary Education. MENTAL DEMANDS Experiences frequent interruptions; required to meet inflexible deadlines; requires concentration and attention to detail; may occasionally deal with distraught or difficult individuals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Washington State Administrative Credential (WSPC). Masters Degree: Educational Administration and/or Curriculum. Demonstrated successful administrative experience. Superintendent certification preferred. Teaching experience plus a minimum of three years' successful educational administrative experience required. Building principal experience required. Central office experience preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience or knowledge of Special Education issues and procedures. Strong academic preparation in instructional leadership, administration, and supervision. Curriculum leadership experience. Demonstrated understanding of effective instruction and assessment practices. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with administrators and teachers to improve classroom instruction. Excellent public relations and written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to providing equal opportunity to students and staff. Ability to develop/monitor budgets and manage fiscal resources. Licenses/Special Requirements Requires fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation, abuse, injury or neglect of a minor. Complete Washington State Sexual Misconduct form. UNIT AFFILIATION This is a non-union, Director Level 1 exempt position.
