Posting Identification Number 41208 Position Overview Under direction, travels to various sites to conduct general investigations of a proactive and a reactive nature relative to alleged or suspected violations of the professional licensing acts administered by the Division of Professional Regulation. Produces comprehensive reports of all investigations. Places complaints in priority for follow up and further action. Initiates and pursues investigations. Works closely with other state and federal law enforcement and regulatory agencies. As a State of Illinois Employee, you will receive a robust benefit package that includes the following: * Health, life, vision, and dental insurance * 12 weeks paid maternity/paternity leave * Pension Plan - Westing at 10 years for Tier II * Full 20-year retirement awards free health insurance during retirement * Deferred compensation and other pre-tax benefits programs * Paid state holidays 13-14 days annually * 3 Paid personal Business Days annually * 12 Paid sick days annually (Sick days carry over from year to year) * 10-25 Days of Paid Vacation time annually - (10 days in year one of employment) * Personal, sick, and vacation rates modified for 12-hour work schedules (as applicable) * Employee Assistance Program and/or mental health resources * For more information about our benefits please follow this link: https://www2.illinois.gov/cms/benefits/Pages/default.aspx Essential Functions * Conducts general investigations both of a proactive and reactive nature relative to alleged or suspected violations of the professional licensing acts under the jurisdiction of the Division. * Produces comprehensive reports of all investigations, frequently within an extremely close time frame. * Places complaints in priority for follow up and further action. * Required to initiate and pursue an investigation at a moment's notice, with little or no previous knowledge of assignment. * Works closely with other state and federal law enforcement and regulatory agencies to expedite cooperative investigations, including the Department of State Police, the State's Attorney, and the Attorney General. * Conducts and/or engages in covert and overt activities within all professions regulated by the Division for the purpose of exposing illegal and unethical professional practices. * Performs inspections of mandated professions and audits records of those professions that imply an inspection function and cite compliance and follow up that may lead to investigation or discipline for noncompliance. * Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications * Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of high school. * Requires two years investigative experience in law enforcement or a related field. Preferred Qualifications * Prefers at least six years of experience working as a law enforcement officer. * Prefers at least four years of experience working as a detective or investigator in law enforcement or a related field. Conditions of Employment * Requires the ability to pass an agency conducted background check. * Requires possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license. * Requires the ability to travel and to adapt schedule to meet needs of cases assigned.
