Class B driver and Excavator Operator

We’re looking for a candidate who can operate excavators with John Deere/SAE/ Backhoe pattern controls and holds a Class B CDL with air brakes and no automatic restriction for our Mack Granite dump trucks.

We're a family owned excavation and sitework company in business since 1974, looking for an excavator operator and class B CDL Driver. Our fleet of excavators includes Cat 305, 311, 315, and several 320's. We also have a Cat 963 Track loader, John Deere 750C, Cat 279D and a few other smaller pieces of equipment we use onsite. Our trucks are 8 speed manual Mack Granite tandem dump trucks. We specialize in high end, new construction residential site development. We do site clearing, demolitions, excavations, grading, drainage and detention systems, septics, etc. Finding someone who is a hard worker, fits in with our crew and gets along with other employees and our clients is a priority for us.

Expectations/ Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Groundcrew, shooting grades, installing drainage, septic systems, seepage pits, demolitions, etc
• Operate various forms of heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, compactors, etc
• Learn how to read siteplans, engineering and architectural drawings
• Shoot grades/ elevations and do in field layouts
• Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn

Required Knowledge/Skills/Aptitudes:

• Must have excavator operating experience
• Must have a Class B CDL, Air Brakes, no Automatic Restriction
• Must have an optimistic attitude and willing to learn new tasks
• Must be familiar with securing heavy equipment
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with fellow employees
• Must be safety conscious

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift piping and materials onsite, shoveling, raking, etc

Travel: This position is based from our yard in Closter, NJ, our jobsites are mostly local/within a 10-15 min drive.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• 40 hours per week. Hours of work are 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday

Seasonal lay-offs are a possibility in event of bad winter conditions, although we haven’t done so in years.
