The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators is a national nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization that works to develop public policy for recreational boating safety. NASBLA represents the recreational boating authorities, the Boating Law Administrators (BLAs) of all 50 states and the six U.S. territories.

Be one of the first applicants, read the complete overview of the role below, then send your application for consideration. The organization offers a variety of resources, including training, model acts, education standards, publications and more. Through a national network of thousands of professional educators, law enforcement officers and volunteers, NASBLA affects the lives of over 85 million American boaters. NASBLA has built a strong reputation as the leading voice on recreational boating safety issues and has been successful in building relationships and collaborations across the country and with federal agencies such as the U.S. Coast Guard. Recently, with the departure of its multi-decade serving CEO, NASBLA has challenges in determining the path forward. The new CEO will work in close collaboration with the Executive Board (Board) and devoted volunteers to determine a refreshed vision for the organization. Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of the organization’s operations, including program development, financial management and staff supervision. Mentor staff and motivate them to achieve their best work. Collaborate with diverse stakeholders sharing common interests and values. Execute on the larger strategic business plan while overseeing day-to-day operations. Plan, develop and manage budgets, programs, and events. Coordinate committee activities and advance the public policy agenda. Build and maintain relationships key to NASBLA members. Assist in the development of the Board and provide ongoing professional training. Qualifications: Proven executive-level association leader with experience in a similar-size or larger national organization. Exceptional communication skills (written and oral). Experience in visionary strategic planning and execution. High level of business acumen and experience in increasing operational efficiencies. Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. Continuing professional education and accreditation in a professional field. Board leadership in a state or national nonprofit, professional or trade association is beneficial. CAE (Certified Association Executive) designation is highly desirable. Experience in boating safety is not required but knowledge of the field and passion for the mission would be highly advantageous.
