Job Summary Alaska Overview ConocoPhillips is Alaska's largest crude oil producer and largest owner of exploration leases, with approximately 1.2 million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2022. The company produced an average of 200 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2022. ConocoPhillips has major ownership interests in two of North America's largest legacy conventional oil fields, both located on Alaska's North Slope: Kuparuk, which the company operates, and Prudhoe Bay. Additionally, ConocoPhillips operates several fields on the Western North Slope. The company has an ownership interest in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and owns/operates the Polar Tankers fleet. Western North Slope Overview The Western North Slope encompasses the Colville River Unit (Alpine), its satellite fields and the Greater Mooses Tooth Unit. Description The WNS Field Environmental Coordinator will provide effective Environmental support to Western North Slope Operations (WNS), and coordinated support to Capital Projects, Drilling & Wells, and Exploration to maintain excellent environmental stewardship throughout the North Slope. Collaborate with others to develop and implement sustainable environmental programs in accordance with Corporate, CPA and statutory requirements. Provide to the development of an excellent HSE department by communicating environmental policies and standards to staff; implementing initiatives to improve environmental practice and awareness; and recommending effective environmental management programs Job Description Your responsibilities may include: * Strong Safety Leadership and a commitment to developing an incident free culture with North Slope Operations * Serving as a technical resource by providing guidance and assistance to the field and coordinating programs to validate compliance with environmental regulations related to: air operating permits, federal New Source Performance Standards (NSPS), Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) plans, Oil Discharge Prevention Contingency Plans (ODPCP), Alaska Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (APDES) permits, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) NPR-A stipulations, spill reporting, prevention and response, waste disposal and material reuse including Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), waste minimization, wildlife, land, water quality, water use, and other related field environmental issues as required * Identifying environmental risks, issues, and mitigation strategies, and communicating with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and other internal business partners * Assessing field activities by conducting onsite audits and site visits to validate environmental compliance with approximately 25% of the work time spent participating in field verification activities in an Arctic environment * Act as an example and give full support to the HSE policy, goals, efforts and programs of the CPA Health, Safety and Environmental Management System * Collaborate with partners to understand business practices and identify practical solutions to emerging regulatory needs * Providing written compliance reports to agencies; representing ConocoPhillips during agency inspections; and maintaining contacts and working relationships with local, state, and federal agency personnel * Designing and conducting environmental training programs * Maintaining environmental manuals and key databases * Participating in the Incident Management Team as the Environmental Unit Leader * Coordinating facility tours and/or classes for external agency partners * Assisting with regulatory advocacy efforts focused on permitting-related local, state or federal regulatory initiatives * Working with Permitting, Legal, Lands, Village Outreach, Sustainable Development and other internal CPAI groups for project support * Perform other work-related duties as assigned Basic/Required: * Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer * Bachelor's Degree or higher in environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related field or foreign equivalent * Current/valid driver's license * 3+ years of environmental permitting or compliance experience * 3+ years of proven experience in oil & gas * Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel up to 10% of the time * Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to work a 14 days on, 14 days off schedule in a remote location Preferred: * Master's Degree in environmental engineering or science, biology, geology, or related sciences or foreign equivalent * 3+ years of demonstrated experience in Alaska environmental compliance (air, water, waste, land issues, field monitoring/study design, spill prevention and response including SPCC) * 1+ years experience working with external communities and partners * Advanced leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills * Advanced interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive relations with HSE and Community Relations team members, external stakeholders, internal business partners and natural resource management / regulatory agencies * Intermediate understanding of Alaska local, state and federal environmental and land use regulations (North Slope Borough, AK Dept. of Environmental Conservation, AK Dept. of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Agency, and Bureau of Land Management) including the National Environmental Policy Act and its application to oil and gas projects * Intermediate understanding of multimedia environmental regulations and their applicability to upstream oil and gas operations Alaska North Slope experience * Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical * Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals * Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what's right Apply Before: July 25, 2024Sponsorship: ConocoPhillips' sponsorship for employment authorization in the U.S. is NOT available for this position.
