Assistant/Associate/Professor- Neuro Oncologist Hiring Department: UICOMP-Medicine Location: Peoria, IL USA Requisition ID: 1027945 Posting Close Date: 11/4/2024 The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UlCOMP) Internal Department is seeking a boardcertified or board-eligible Internal Medicine physician for a full-time position as a UICOMP Neuro Oncologist to work jointly with OSF Healthcare to initiate a clinical program to provide clinical care and initiate a program of research and possibly a fellowship in Neuro-Oncology. The position is for an academic appointment at the level of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor in accordance with University policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have completed a fellowship in Neuro-Oncology. Besides providing patient care, the position includes teaching medical students and residents in the Internal Medicine department in the ambulatory clinic at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC), organizing and conducting research and QI programs as desired, and performing other duties of a university faculty member, including committee assignments, curriculum development, and administration. As a Neuro Oncologist, opportunities are available for curriculum development, quality improvement, education and clinical leadership roles. The candidate will join the Internal Medicine group at UICOMP as core faculty. UICOMP is one of the three regional campuses of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, one of the largest public medical schools in the country. UICOMP's educational programs include 244 medical students and 300 residents/fellows in 21 different post graduate programs. The primary teaching hospital for the residency and student programs at UICOMP is Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC). OSF is UICOMP's main clinical partner. OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center is the only Illinois hospital with both an iMRI and a Gamma Knife in the same location. Located right on the medical campus is a brand new OSF HealthCare Cancer Institute, which has 1 of 2 Proton Beams in the state of Illinois. Basic and translational research can be conducted in collaboration with Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC). Malpractice insurance is provided by the University of Illinois system and an excellent benefits package is available including vacations, sick time, CME, health and life insurance and retirement plan. Position Summary Initiate a program to provide clinical care and research in Neuro-Oncology. Duties & Responsibilities * Patient Care * Provide outpatient clinical services (1.5-2 days per week) at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC) * Collaborate with other attending physicians and consultants * Utilize EPIC Electronic Health Records * Research/Administrative * Secure Investigator-led clinical trials * Serve as Primary Investigator for industry-led clinical trials * Participate in research conducted in the Department of Internal Medicine and would have protected time for developing independent, extramurally funded research programs. * Produce scholarly activity resulting in substantial contributions to neuro-oncology * Serve on appropriate educational committees at the College of Medicine * Serve on appropriate hospital committees - Tumor Boards * Perform duties in a manner that complies with all applicable standards, rules, policies, and regulations of the hospital, University of Illinois, Joint Commission, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations * Other duties as assigned and appropriate to advance the mission of the Department of Medicine. * Fellow/Resident/Student Education - does this section need to be included * Prepare and lead resident conferences on neuro-oncology topics in rotation with other faculty attending physicians * Provide at least one Grand Rounds yearly * Provide lectures to medical students Minimum Qualifications * Eligible for licensure in Illinois * Board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine * Successful completion of fellowship in Oncology * MD/DO degree To apply, please visit this job listing on the UIC Job Board at, https://uic.csod.com/ux/ats/careersite/1/home/requisition/12210?c=uic, scroll towards the bottom of the page and click, "Apply Now".
