Position Title Athletics Media Relations Assistant Posting Number Division Athletic Director's Office Department Athletics Location Erie, Pa Position Summary Career Readiness Learning Objectives: Communication: Clearly and effectively exchange information, queries and/or perspectives with supervisors and co-workers before, during, and after sporting events. Let supervisors know which tasks are more challenging and help them develop a plan to meet expectations. Career and Self-Development: After being instructed on the technical aspects of the job, the student employee should take the initiative to learn a wider depth of knowledge about the technology being utilized or learn about other desired technical positions. Gannon students only. Assists the Director of Athletics for Media Relations (Sports Information Office) with game operations/management for the University's NCAA Division II athletics program. The position will be responsible for game management that includes but is not limited to the PSAC Network webcasts technical direction, webcast camera work, video recording for highlights, scoreboard operation, play clock operation, statistical input, game music director, video board operation, and media assistance. Additionally, the position will work to ensure compliance with NCAA, PSAC, and Title IX requirements relative to athletic communications. Must be able to support and promote the University's Mission. Availability to work nights and weekends is a must. Required Qualifications 1. Reliability 2. Timeliness 3. Ability to multitask 4. Sports knowledge 5. Ability to learn technical skills quickly 6. Ability to work as a team member and independently Preferred Qualifications 1. Scoreboard operation 2. Play clock operation 3. Photography and/or videography for events 4. Music direction during events 5. Statistical input for sporting events 6. Camera work during live webcasts 7. Play-by-play announcing for live streams for a variety of sports 8. Technical direction for webcasts 9. Videoboard/graphics board operation 10. Ability to write/edit copy. Physical Demands 1. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions (rain, snow, cold, sun, etc.). 2. Must be able to climb stairs and bleachers steps. 3. Must have no fear of heights. 4. Must be able to stand for two to three hours. 5. Must be willing to learn about new sports.
