Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Special Events, Technical Services Manager for the Digital Classroom Services. Reporting to the Associate Director for Technical Services & Operation in Digital Classroom Services (DCS), the Special Events Technical Services Manager is responsible for overseeing and providing afternoon and evening technical support the general-purpose classrooms (GPCs) located at Rutgers University - New Brunswick campus. Among the key duties of this position are the following: * Coordinates resources for special events held the general-purpose classrooms, providing on-premise support for faculty and end users, managing audio/visual design, installation, upgrades, and repairs. * Works closely with stakeholders to design audio/visual solutions, manage and perform installation, and provide expert level troubleshooting. * Performs repair work and provide back-up support for general purpose classrooms in the evenings when classroom availability is more common. * Works with fellow staff responsible for performing major equipment replacements and repairs in DCS spaces on all four New Brunswick Campuses. * Provides, where necessary, oversight to support staff and occasional direct support to faculty. Seniority Unit Terms of Appointment Staff - 12 month Position Pension Eligibility ABP Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience * Bachelor of Arts or Sciences degree; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the field. * Two years of related experience and knowledge of audio-visual technologies, event support, and computing operating systems. Certifications/Licenses * Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Well versed in Zoom, Webex and other telepresence platforms * Experienced working with intricate audio/visual systems. * Excellent problem solving, organization, interpersonal, and communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate technical information to a nontechnical audience. * Demonstrable experience supervising staff and working as part of a dynamic team * Possess good written and verbal communication skills * Valid NJ Driver's License. * Audio visual technology, telepresence, and Mac environment knowledge and acumen is important. Preferred Qualifications * 2-3 years of experience in corporate, academic or service industry in similar audio-visual capacity. * Certified Technology Specialist (CTS). * Working applicable experience with Crestron, Extron programming; Mac OS, Extron and BIAMP Programming and familiarity, networking knowledge, customer service experience, and experience working in academia all preferred. Need to understand signal flow processes. Equipment Utilized * Apple Mac minis, Epson laser projectors, document cameras, laptops and portable display devices, USB equipment document cameras, Extron, Altona, Biamp switchers; Shure wireless microphones and installed microphones; Crestron DM hardware and software Cisco codecs, Zoom and Webex conferencing; Vaddio and Aver PTZ cameras, familiar with portable sound systems and audio reinforcement equipment. Physical Demands and Work Environment * Candidate needs to be able to carry 40 lbs. if equipment, be comfortable using a 6' ladder, familiar with safe practices using hand-held electronic tools. * Can be called upon to move tables and chairs in classrooms, assist other staff with larger equipment installations. * Offices are located at the Rutgers Academic Building on College Avenue and Ruth Adams Building on Cook/Douglass campus in New Brunswick, but will be required to work out of numerous buildings and campuses. * Will be required to be a self-starter and work unsupervised. Special Conditions * This position in based out of two locations: the Rutgers Academic Building on the College Avenue campus and the Ruth Adams Building on Cook/Douglass Campuses in New Brunswick, NJ. * The general work schedule is 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM Mondays to Thursdays, and 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM on Fridays. However, there is the expectation the schedule will adjusted to coordinate and support events, including occasional weekend events. * Flexibility of schedule is required to accommodate events and meetings. * Clean Driving Record.
