City/State Virginia Beach, VA Overview Work Shift First (Days) (United States of America) Sentara Healthcare is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Senior Process Improvement Engineer. Position Status: Full-time, Day Shift Position Location: This position is 100% remote. However, there may be up to 10% travel that includes site visits at corporate or any of Sentara's 12 Divisions. Candidates must have a current residence in one of the follow states or being willing to relocate: Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington State, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming Standard Working Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00PM (ET). Position Summary: The Lean & Six Sigma Black Belt is a dedicated, corporate role reporting to the Director of Process Improvement for CE, responsible for leading high-profile, cross-functional Lean & Six Sigma Black Belt projects critical to achieving strategic and operational success across corporate, all hospitals, and at individual sites. Manages and coaches a portfolio of Green Belt mentees and projects, as well as Rapid Improvement Events to drive operational excellence and impact corporate and operational areas, in accordance with annual strategic objectives and directives. Creates organizational value by supporting employee development Process Improvement Program and by teaching and coaching green belts to achieve certification. Standardizes and drives Lean & Six Sigma practices and metrics across corporate, all hospitals, and at sites. Collaborate with leaders to identify opportunities for improvement, organize resources, select, and implement the appropriate improvement methodology and ensure projects are conducted successfully. * Attend Lean & Six Sigma Black Belt training course; attain organization's Lean & Six Sigma Black Belt certification within established timelines. * Participate in long-term and mid-term Process Improvement Strategy Deployment process. * Work with Operational Leaders and all other business functions to align, select, prioritize and plan Lean & Six Sigma projects and process improvement events, timing and training needs identified in the long-term and mid-term Process Improvement Strategy as well as alignment with Corporate Strategy. * Benchmark Best-In-Class metrics and performance on Lean & Six Sigma within our industry and outside our industry. * Assist in the deployment of the Process Improvement Program Maturity Growth Road Map. * Assist in defining Process Improvement Program KPIs, goals and metrics. * Assist with operating mechanisms for reviewing, reporting, and communicating Process Improvement Program performance and maturity progress at multiple levels in the organization. * Drive Belt Certification goals and performance across the enterprise. * Assist in driving and deploying the Process Improvement Program through x-functional and x-site collaboration effort. * Support the Process Improvement Program: * Project & Program Financial Benefits review, approval, and tracking * Project Status tracking * Project Methodology workflow and tracking * Employee Certification workflow and tracking * Develop and/or assist in the development and improvement of Lean & Six Sigma Champion, Yellow Belt, and Green Belt training material. * Conduct Lean & Six Sigma training in-person and virtual courses for Champion, Yellow Belts, and Green Belts. * Coach Champions/ Executive Sponsors through process improvement methods and tools. * Mentor Green Belts in applying correct methodologies, closing projects on time, and successfully achieving certification. * Manage and support the development of Lean & Six Sigma project decks to ensure organization's Lean & Six Sigma operational and financial goals are met. * Audit/monitor closed projects to ensure results are maintained and sustainable. * Build relationships with key stakeholders to understand their business process, policies, and operations and ensure each project efforts maintains compliance to accreditation and regulatory requirements. * Travel to sites and support Lean & Six Sigma Green Belts and their projects as required. * Assist site management and personnel with analysis and improvement of asset utilization and operational flow constraint analysis and improvement. * Assist site management and personnel with RCA (Root-Cause Analysis) and implementation of CA (Corrective Action) of DMAIC and other process improvement methodologies. * Facilitate Value Stream Mapping, Rapid Improvement Events, and other process improvement events. * Identify project opportunities, actions and deployment methodologies resulting from Value Stream Mapping and Rapid Improvement Events. * Conduct benchmarking and analysis on Lean & Six Sigma practices; identify and implement process improvement opportunities. * Lead Lean & Six Sigma Black Belt high-impact projects. Lead data collection and analysis. * Lead Lean & Six Sigma Black Belt projects assigned by the Director of Process Improvement. * Provide ad hoc reports on data analysis, upon request. * Support overall CE/Quality & Safety team, as required. * Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. * Other functions as deemed relevant and/or assigned to this role by Director of Process Improvement.
