Department Information The School of History and Sociology (HSOC) is a uniquely interdisciplinary unit with an intellectual culture of cross-pollination between sociological and historical scholarship, as well as work in science and technology studies. The School is united around a vision of scholarship and teaching that elucidates processes of local, national, and global change, past and present. This mission includes promoting a broader understanding of how racial, gender, and class inequalities intersect, as well as how technology, science, and culture are intertwined. One of six schools in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts at Georgia Tech, the School of History and Sociology offers a Bachelor of Science degree in History, Technology, and Society (HTS), a research-intensive major that equips our graduates with the analytical techniques and communication skills necessary to understand and meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world. Organizational environment within which the job functions will generally be characterized as limited to moderate in terms of scope. Responsibilities typically include management of budgets, financial controls and reporting and procurement. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: unit general and/or senior financial management, faculty and staff; Institute-wide financial management. This position typically will advise and counsel: unit management. This position will supervise: assigned financial staff. Responsibilities Job Duty 1 - Develop and on approval, administer unit financial operating policies and procedures consistent with Institute policy. Job Duty 2 - Oversee and coordinate the preparation and administration of unit budgets including amendments. Job Duty 3 - Manage the recording of financial transactions and generation of financial related reports on both scheduled and ad hoc basis. Job Duty 4 - Manage the maintenance of unit financial related files and records Job Duty 5 - Monitor and maintain records of unit purchases. Job Duty 6 - Supervise, train and develop unit financial staff. Job Duty 7 - Confer with unit management regarding financial issues. Job Duty 8 - Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience Other Required Qualifications n/a Required Experience Four to five years of job related experience Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Experience: Workday, OneUSG, and financial management Proposed Salary The salary range for this position is $63,351 - $70,000 Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities SKILLS This job requires working knowledge of accounting principles and practices as applied within a university environment. This includes skills in the application of accounting staff supervision, communications and problem solving. Use of office and finance/accounting related computer applications and systems is required.
