About the Job The individual will fulfill a role as co-investigator for the project, "Pavement Marking/Colored Pavement Friction Differential and Product Durability", Contract No. 1036342, Work Order Number 17. As co-investigator, the individual will coordinate with the project PI and will be involved with project development, planning, and execution, with an emphasis on data analysis, and draft and final report writing, assembly, and editing. Related activities include can include participation in project meetings, virtual and/or in-person; and travel for site visits, meetings, presentations, etc., as needed. The individual will also fulfill a role as a co-investigator for the project, "Taconite as a lower cost alternative High Friction Surface Treatment to Calcined Bauxite for low volume roads in Minnesota", Contract No. 1036198. In this role, the individual will coordinate with the project's PI and team members, and will be involved with project development, planning, and execution, with an emphasis on the project's remaining Tasks (7b-11b). These tasks include the following: coordinating field testing and related traffic control; field/test location assessments and documentation; friction data (project and historical) acquisition, analysis, and interpretation; presentation preparation; and draft and final report writing, assembly, and editing. Related activities include can include participation in project meetings (virtual and/or in-person); and travel for site visits, meetings, presentations, etc., as needed. Role 1 Tasks & job duties Task 4: Testing of pavement markings and colored lanes products - Participate in ongoing project development, planning, and execution, including facilitating the acquisition of taconite friction materials. Participate in related field testing and documentation thereof Task 5: Data analysis, conclusions, and recommendations - Collaborate with the project PI and project team in analyzing project friction testing results and historical friction data Task 6: Final memorandum on benefits - Contribute to, edit, and review Task 7: Draft final report - Contribute to its preparation and content, review, and edit Task 8: Final publishable report - Contribute to its preparation and content, review, and edit; participate in remaining TAP meeting Role 2 Tasks & job duties Task 7b: Test Segment Condition Monitoring, Skid Resistance Testing, Field Performance Tracking, Lab Testing, Documentation, and Conference Presentations - Participate in ongoing project development, planning, and execution, including facilitating the acquisition of taconite friction materials. Participate in related field testing and documentation thereof Task 8: Final Memorandum on Research Benefits and Implementation Steps - Collaborate with the project PI and project team in analyzing project friction testing results and historical friction data Task 9: Draft Final Report - Contribute to, edit, and review Task 10: Editorial Review and Publication of Final Report - Contribute to its preparation and content, review, and edit; participate in remaining TAP meeting Task 11b: Out-of-State Conference Travel (2024) - Includes contributing to the preparation of presentation(s) to be given at one or more conferences by the project team The relevant dates for accomplishing project Tasks are described in the most recent contract amendment. One or more site visits to the project's test installation location at MnROAD are expected between September of 2023 and the completion of the project.
