Overview We have an exciting opportunity to support our Inpatient Pediatric and NICU teams at University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital! The Rehabilitation Technician is responsible for assisting therapists in providing safe, efficient, and effective delivery of patient care by preparing patients for their therapy session, assisting therapists with patient transfers, assisting with rehab equipment during therapy sessions, ordering equipment and supplies, and performing clerical tasks as directed. * FTE 0.6, authorized for 48 hours per pay period. * Schedule: Monday - Thursday 8:00am -1:00pm and Fridays 8:00am - 12:00pm * Full benefits such as medical, HSA, dental insurance, vision insurance, 403b, PTO, Shift Differentials, health & wellbeing resources, paid for continuing education credits, and more! M Health Fairview Rehabilitation offers a range of services that serve patients across 10 acute-care hospitals, 3 post-acute settings and 70 outpatient adult and pediatric therapy clinics. Consisting of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, our therapists collaborate with colleagues in all medical settings and offer dozens of specialty programs. Rehab's continuing education program offers 40+ continuing education courses per year at no cost to employees and further supports numerous external CE courses each year. Responsibilities/Job Description Assesses patients' needs and identifies patients' ability to participate in treatment each day Implements assistance with care plan Communicates with the therapist recommendations/need for revision/update of plan of care as determined by physicians or nursing staff Coordinates care and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team to achieve desire outcomes Under the direct supervision of the therapist, provides treatment interventions based on the patients plan of care Assists with treatment interventions, including patient transfers, patient monitoring, and exercise monitoring as directed by the therapist Coordinates care and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team to achieve desired outcomes Identifies patient's/family's educational needs and communicates needs to the therapist Assists therapist with treatment equipment for use in patient treatment Prepares, maintains and cleans department/treatment areas in compliance with appropriate polices related to infection control, safety regulations and other established guidelines Completes cleaning per schedule and stocks supplies Completion of maintenance, temperature and safety checklist Safely transports, transfers and/or escorts patients Follows proper procedure when completing/assisting with patient transfers to insure safety of patient and self Uses appropriate and safe body mechanics Transports assigned patients in a safe and timely manner Demonstrates awareness of and follows departmental standards for productivity, charges, attendance and time management/prioritization Participates in department/facility process/quality improvement initiatives Complete scheduling functions as assigned Produces efficient and accurate schedules and associated reports Records and updates schedule changes accurate Communicate changes to all involved staff in a timely manner Participates actively in department problems solving, coordination patient schedule for multiple subject areas Seeks out solution to time issues directly through parties involved and other available resources Qualifications Required Education, Experience, & LicensingCompletion of 2 years towards Bachelor's Degree in health/exercise related field Active Minnesota Basic Life Support Certification Preferred Education & ExperienceBachelor's Degree in health/exercise related field Healthcare experience with direct patient care
