Web Manager, College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences The College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences seeks a skilled and motivated Web Manager to mentor student developers, build websites for the college, collaborate with stakeholders, and serve as part of the management team for FHSS Computing Services. We are looking for someone who will exemplify the teachings of Christ in daily interactions, collaborating with the Director and management team to plan and execute student employee mentoring efforts, build websites for FHSS and affiliated organizations, and support the overall mission of the College . What you'll do in this Position: * Manage and mentor student developers, including recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising, as well as encouraging retention by providing growth opportunities. * Identify, teach, implement, and maintain industry standards, technologies, and best practices for web development. * Ensure that student employees properly document their code, activities, and responsibilities, * Develop static and dynamic data-driven websites for the college, as well as web solutions for departments, research, and other college functions. At least 50% of your time each week will be dedicated to development. * Follow best practices and policies to ensure website security and product maintainability by a team. * Consult and collaborate with stakeholders to identify needs and desired solutions. * Work with the FHSS Projects Team to plan, prioritize, and execute work with transparency and accountability. * Assure optimum user experience in planning, design, building, testing, and deployment of web assets, and evaluate the quality of existing websites and develop improvement plans. * Ensure that college employees outside Computing Services have the web support they need. * Work with Director and management team to provide leadership, strategy, and overall vision for college websites. * Continually build positive relationships with college clients, other college peers, and the university's Office of Information Technology (OIT), including representing the college on university committees, when needed. * Occasionally work outside normal office hours to solve urgent problems. Note: this position has no remote work option. The Web Manager must be on campus to mentor students. What qualifies you for this role: Required: * A firm commitment to the mission of BYU * Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent development experience. * 2 years of each of the following: website development and maintenance, customer service/working with clients, database experience, and database schema design and architecture. * Ability to collaborate successfully * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and ensure that customer objectives are met with satisfaction * Knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and/or SQL * Project management experience, including Kanban or Scrum * Communication skills and ability to work both independently and with a team * Willingness to exemplify professionalism and fully support all standards of BYU and CES Preferred: * 5 years of website development/maintenance and customer service/working with clients * 2 years of IT managerial, supervisory, or project management experience, design, UX, and UI experience or training, and managing web developers. * 1 year experience in web technologies, including Mendix or another low-code/no-code platform, such as Microsoft Power Apps and ServiceNow AppEngine * Interest in working in an educational environment * Strong experience in complementary web development technologies, including cloud, servers, security, native app development, web technologies, and graphic design * Experience with cloud development in Azure, AWS, or other cloud offerings What we offer in return: In addition to our competitive pay structure, this position comes with fantastic benefits, including: * 401k.
