Position involves the design, planning, and execution of in vivo studies to characterize lead therapeutic candidates primarily in mice models. The studies include determining tolerated dose, pharmacokinetics, half-life and biodistribution, and disease-specific models including work with transgenic mice strains. Will train and assist colleagues with the execution of all in vivo experiments required by the lab's research projects; act as the primary contact for all aspects of the preparation, review and approval processes for the group's animal protocols; the development of specific in vitro or cell-based assays to characterize bioactivity of peptide or small-molecule lead therapeutic candidates; proactively evaluate new technologies and implement new in vivo evaluation methods to advance peptide-based drug discovery efforts in mice and rats; and train lab members on the new methods developed.
