Under supervision of the Head Chef, Assistant Chef, and Cold Food Production Coordinator, the Production Assistant is responsible for the following: Preparing and serving food items in dining halls Work independently and in a team setting within the cold food production area. Assist with set up, service, and clean-up of food serving line Follow appropriate food handling and storage procedures Serve food in serving line while adhering to portion control and serving procedures Monitor and record refrigerator or freezer temperature readings Adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines, including related documentation Provide support and leadership to meet the goals of the cold food production area and may operate computerized board checking system and perform other cash transactions. Provide occasional coverage at checking station by greeting dining service patrons, verifying student ID #s/board participation for specific meals Pay, Benefits, and Perks: The starting pay range for this position will be $18.65/hour. Compensation based on your skills and experience. New employees in Dining will receive a $500 sign-on bonus (½ paid at first check and ½ paid after 90 days of eligibility requirements are met). Preferred:Previous Culinary coursework or certification Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents Required: Three years of institutional food service experience . Demonstrated understanding of food preparation in a fast-paced environment. Preferred: ServSafe Certification (Dining employees will be provided training within their first six months to become certified). A valid driver's license and the ability to meet the requirements of the College's Motor Vehicle Use Policy. Prior experience with food preparation techniques and their application in institutional settings. Standard Work Days and Hours The standard work week for this position is: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: 6:30 am - 2:30 pm, Monday and Tuesday: Off This position is a full-time, academic year round position working 40 hours/week for 38 weeks (.73 FTE) The role will be required to work occasional overtime, holidays, and during weather emergencies, in addition to working major college events and weekends (i.e., Parent's Weekend, Commencement, and Reunions).
