Job Description The Opportunity: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a dedicated and experienced Grounds Crew Leader / Irrigation Technician to join our team at the Prescott Campus. This dual-role position is crucial for maintaining the beauty and functionality of our campus grounds. The ideal candidate will provide leadership to the grounds crew while also managing the installation and maintenance of our irrigation systems. Key Responsibilities: Grounds Crew Leader (40%) * Supervise and lead Grounds Service Personnel in daily tasks. * Perform maintenance and repairs on landscaped areas, including parking lots, roads, fencing, and drainage systems as directed by the Supervisor. * Oversee the installation and renovation of landscaping, including turf, trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds. * Maintain, renovate, and repair exterior athletic and recreational facilities. * Manage grounds upkeep, including trash removal and waste receptacle management. * Respond to exterior hazardous conditions, providing emergency support as needed. * Assist with special events, setups, and building service functions. Irrigation Technician (60%) * Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems throughout the campus. * Ensure efficient water usage and promote healthy plant growth through expert knowledge of irrigation equipment and water conservation practices. * Collaborate with grounds keeping and landscaping teams to enhance the campus's aesthetic appeal. * Troubleshoot and resolve irrigation system issues promptly. Qualifications * High School diploma or GED, with proficiency in grammar, spelling, basic composition, and math. * Must have at least two (2) years of prior supervisory experience. * Proven experience in grounds maintenance and landscaping. * Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team. * Technical knowledge of irrigation systems, water conservation techniques, and landscaping principles. * Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license. (In some instances, a valid Class C [CDL] license may be required.) * Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other teams. * Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe and attractive environment.
