TribLive , one of Pennsylvania's leading news organizations, is seeking a dynamic and motivated part-time

Internship Coordinator

to oversee our growing internship program. This role is vital in coaching and challenging our interns to produce high-quality journalism. The internship coordinator will serve as the primary contact for a group of about 10 interns that will spend 8-12 weeks in the newsroom during the summer months.

Key Responsibilities:

Program oversight:

Manage the internship program including planning and onboarding, ensuring a structured and enriching experience for all interns. Mentorship and coaching:

Provide one-on-one mentorship to interns, offering guidance on journalism best practices, ethical reporting, and storytelling techniques. Content quality assurance:

Review and critique interns' work, offering constructive feedback to help them grow and excel in their roles. Curriculum development:

Collaborate with editorial staff to plan an orientation session and design training workshops that enhance interns' skills in reporting, writing, and multimedia production. Performance evaluation:

Conduct regular check-ins of interns' progress, providing feedback and facilitating discussions on career development. Collaboration:

Work closely with editors and senior managers to ensure interns are integrated into the newsroom and can contribute meaningfully to ongoing projects. Summer project:

Guide interns in selecting a topic and producing an in-depth project that will be published on TribLive platforms. Engagement:

Foster a culture of collaboration and inclusivity, encouraging interns to share ideas and participate in team discussions. Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Previous experience in a journalism or media environment, preferably in an internship or educational role. Strong understanding of current media trends, journalistic practices and AP style. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. Passion for mentorship and a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion within the media landscape. What We Offer:
