Job Description Basic Purpose Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities in providing psychiatric services, diagnosis and treatment, for persons in state custody. These positions provides care to a vulnerable population which requires employees to adhere to all applicable laws, rules and regulations, including but not limited to consumer rights regulations, confidentiality laws, and accreditation requirements associated with this position and field. Typical Functions * Provides diagnosis, care, and treatment to persons in state custody * Prepares a comprehensive initial intake assessment of all new patients * Orders and reviews results of laboratory test based on patient diagnosis and treatment plan * Provide psychotropic medication management for assigned patients in accordance with current medical standards and practice including re-evaluations and re-examinations on a regular basis * Keeps patients informed on medications and treatment plans * Writes appropriate medical orders to the paraprofessional staff of health care providers and mental health personnel * Provides clinic appointment for on-going evaluation * Participates in on-call coverage regarding psychotropic medication management issues in assigned patients * Evaluates existing treatment programs and makes recommendation of revisions of programs * Assists in developing and implementing mental health policies and procedures to be used at the assigned facility developing standards of care compliant with laws, rules, and the standards for persons in state custody * Assists staff in the understanding and supervision of those in state custody and provides in-service education for other health care personnel, psychology personnel, and facility staff as needed * Supervises lower-level psychiatrists, psychologists, interns, residents, and other professional and para-professional medical staff Level Descriptor This is career level of this job family where employees are assigned responsibilities at the full performance level for all routine case assignments. Complex cases may be assigned with general guidance and direction from senior-level psychiatrist. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Knowledge required at this level includes knowledge of effectively conducting patient assessments; effective communication, both orally and written; documenting (charting) patients progress; and establishing working relationships with internal and external partners. Skill required at this level includes skill in explaining treatment plans to patients, including effects of medications; and analyzing information from a patient's history or other sources to determine appropriate diagnosis and treatment. Ability required at this level includes the ability to demonstrate empathy to patients; problem solve; and apply listening techniques to gain information for diagnosis and treatment. Job Type/Salary: * Open 9/12/24 until filled * Full-time * Annual Salary $201,932+ * FLSA Status: Exempt Education and Experience Licensure to practice medicine in the state of Oklahoma and three (3) years of experience as a practicing psychiatrist. Special Requirements Some agencies may require certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), or other approved certifying organization. The position must function in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
