ONLY STUDENTS ELIGIBLE FOR FEDERAL WORK-STUDY (FWS) MAY APPLY Position Summary: The Athletics Recruiting Assistant will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in talent acquisition within the sports industry while fostering essential networking connections. By providing administrative support to MIU Athletics, assisting in the coordination of athlete recruitment activities, and managing communication with various stakeholders, this role contributes to the university's ability to attract and retain student-athletes for a more dynamic and diverse student body. Students this Position Appeals to: Ideal for students with a passion for sports and an interest in athletics management, physiology and health, coaching, business, or sales, this position enables hands-on experience in talent recruitment, event coordination, teamwork, and communication. Job Responsibilities: * MIU Athletics Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance specific to MIU Athletics, including data entry, document management, and scheduling. * Communication Liaison: Serve as a communication liaison between MIU Athletics and prospective student-athletes, facilitating correspondence with athletes, parents, and other university departments. * Event Coordination: Assist in coordinating MIU athletic events, including scheduling, logistics, and communication with teams, officials, and venue staff. * Recruitment Logistics: Manage logistics related to athlete recruitment, including scheduling visits, coordinating travel arrangements, and ensuring a smooth recruitment process for potential athletes interested in MIU's athletic programs. * Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records specific to MIU Athletics, including athlete information, recruitment activities, and departmental correspondence, ensuring data integrity and compliance. Job Qualifications: * Knowledge of Athletics Programs: A genuine interest or familiarity with sports or athletics programs. * Sales and Recruiting Skills: Demonstrated proficiency or interest in developing sales techniques and recruiting strategies, with the ability to effectively promote MIU Athletics programs and engage prospective student-athletes. * Customer Service Skills: Ability to provide excellent customer service to prospective student-athletes, parents, and other stakeholders, ensuring a positive experience throughout the recruitment process. * Effective Communication Skills: Proficiency in both verbal and written communication to serve as a liaison between MIU Athletics and prospective student-athletes. * Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, coaches, and other university staff to achieve departmental goals and support MIU Athletics initiatives. * Flexibility and Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities as needed in a dynamic athletic department environment. * Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and resolve challenges that may arise during the recruitment process or event coordination. * Attention to Detail: Precision in maintaining accurate records, coordinating events, and ensuring the smooth execution of administrative tasks. * Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to effectively manage administrative tasks and coordinate events. Location: Rec Center Office Supervisor: Luke Jaicks, Athletic Director and Tennis Coach Coach Jaicks brings a storied coaching career to the table, having passionately served in both NCAA and NAIA roles since 2013. His journey is punctuated by extraordinary achievements, notably etching remarkable records as an NCAA coach at Brevard College and within the esteemed USA South Conference.
