Part-time (.50 FTE) 6-12 Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) At Helena Public Schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a part-time (.50 FTE) 6-12 Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) you will work as part of a team that serves nearly 8,000 students at 18 campuses across Helena.  This position serves a 187 day contract scheduled for 3.5 hours a day.  The ideal candidate would also be open and available for an additional 3.5 hours per day (.50 FTE) 6-12 teaching assignment to make the position full-time.  Starting entry-level salary range for part-time is $21,436 - $34,376 per year/ (full-time is $42,872.81 to $48,231.92 per year) based on education and experience in addition to a competitive pro-rated benefit plan including but not limited to sick and personal leave, retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, health benefits plan with dental and vision options, life insurance, and a section 125 plan.  Long term disability insurance, and numerous tax sheltered annuities (403b's) are available.  Learn more at:  https://helenaschools.org/departments/human-resources/health-care-and-cafeteria-benefits/ The 6-12 TOSA will be responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs for middle and high school students on special projects. This role focuses on enhancing educational outcomes through curriculum design, assessment strategies, and instructional practices. The TOSA will provide support and guidance to schools to continue implementation of core curricular resources and teaching practices. The TOSA will utilize continuing improvement cycles, School Leadership Teams, and the Instructional Framework to support schools.  The 6-12 TOSA will work with the curriculum and assessment administrators and the assistant superintendent to support work with 6-12 schools on instructional systems, assessment alignment, curriculum and other special projects. The 6-12 TOSA will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experiences and future success of middle and high school students. Some of what you will do: * Build collegial relationships between teachers and principals. * Assist the Curriculum Administrator in designing and revising curriculum aligned with state standards as well as college and career readiness standards. * Develop and deliver professional development and support to teachers in curriculum implementation as needed. * Assist the Assessment Administrator in piloting a new assessment system for grades 9-12 and evaluating and monitoring its effectiveness. * Analyze assessment data to inform instructional practices and curriculum adjustments. * Support teachers in using assessment data to improve student outcomes. * Create and promote career development programs and activities for students. * Work with counselors to develop an individualized student learning and career pathway program. * Establish partnerships with local businesses, colleges, and community organizations to enhance career exploration opportunities. * Develop a strategic plan for college and career readiness in HPS for grades 6-12. * Continue implementation of the Instructional Framework and monitor quality Tier 1 instruction through walkthroughs. * Utilize walkthrough data to determine professional development needs and set goals with the School Leadership Team. * Monitor instructional effectiveness and student progress using tools and strategies gained through teachers’ professional development. * Meet with the school administration and leadership team (SLT) regularly to examine school data and assist in school-wide planning (including professional development). * Connect At-Risk students with career readiness courses, work-based learning, and other programs to enhance their skills in their post-secondary lives. * Help develop a Portrait of a Graduate for Helena Public Schools. * Facilitate and/or join PLC groups to support decision-making based on student performance. * Research professional literature and field studies to identify best instructional practices to foster high achievement. * Collaborate with building principals to continuously monitor the school Action Plan and progress towards schoolwide goals in reading, math, and graduation rates through the organization of schoolwide data. * Assist in implementing, evaluating, and monitoring the new state MAST assessment in grades 6-8 as it integrates into our comprehensive assessment system.  * Work collaboratively with the K-8 TOSA on special projects and programming.  * Assist in the development of EL programming and instruction for K-8 students to promote equity and inclusion. * Coordinate with building administrators to administer district benchmark and statewide assessments. Who we are looking for: This position is a peer- lead position requiring the successful incumbent to work effectively with a variety of professionals in diverse settings with unique needs. Although non-supervisory, the successful incumbent may be asked to lead and direct effective teacher intervention strategies, assess and support to maximize student engagement and ensure content effectiveness. The successful candidate is:  * Experienced in curriculum design/implementation, instructional strategies, assessment, data analysis and high-quality professional development.  * Able to use technology to improve instruction, conduct assessments, maintain and manage data. * An experienced, successful, K-12 educator with a Montana teaching license.   The ideal candidate will possess instructional coaching experience.
