Summary The IFT-R FLT/CC will work directly for the Chief Pilot and be responsible for directing live flight and simulator operations associated with student pilot training in the Bell 505 helicopter in support of the contract task order. The FLT/CC will be the Subject Matter Expert for all instruction provided under the existing syllabus of instruction (e.g., aircraft, classroom, simulator, stand-up, or practical environments as required, curriculum/courseware development/improvement). The FLT/CC must understand the Federal Aviation Administration Parts 61 and 91 flight instruction criteria. The FLT/CC will manage experienced instructor pilots in all phases of IFT-R operations. Communicates with parties inside and outside of the organization on matters of mission importance to influence senior leadership on new concepts, practices, and approaches. Monitors standardization and flight discipline of line instructors and student pilot candidates. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. * Assist the Chief Pilot in all duties as required. This includes but is not limited to filling in as the Chief Pilot in their absence, supervising daily activities, acting as risk mitigation briefing authority, and taking a lead role in developing new programs enabling the safe and efficient execution of future IFT-R Helicopter training requirements. * Responsible for oversight of aircraft, simulator, and academic scheduling functions to ensure customers' needs are met as described in the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and government proposal. * Responsible for ensuring all programs lead to safe flight operations and coordinating with investigating officials (military or federal) for any aircraft incidents/accidents. * Assist the Program Manager and Chief Pilot in recruitment, interview, and hiring for positions within Operations (as required). This includes newly acquired positions and promotions from within the organization to meet new needs, replacements, and staffing of leadership positions within Operations. * Fly student sorties, instructor initial and upgrade certifications, Annual flight evaluations, Supervisor of Flight, assist with academic instruction (as required), and maintenance operation flight checks/ground MOCs. * Interface with appropriate program stakeholders, customers, and CAE USA staff to proactively identify and address quality assurance issues and ensure that all quality requirements are met. * Lead the development of program growth/organizational change when requested by the Chief Pilot. * Other duties as directed by the Chief Pilot to include both internal needs and business development initiatives. Supervisory Responsibilities * Responsible for activities of direct reports including, but not limited to, attendance/time management, adherence to company policy and procedures, uniformity, and standardization of student grade sheets and evaluations. Ensures the flight training syllabus is executed effectively within the assigned flight. Development of technical and leadership skills among instructors within the assigned flight. * Responsible for scheduling personnel and managing labor and material expenditures. * Attends meetings, manages delivery schedules, and coordinates configuration management activities. * Ensures a safe and secure work environment is established and maintained. Qualifications and Education Requirements * License(s)/Certificate(s): Current FAA Commercial Pilot, Instrument Helicopter. Current FAA CFI/I Helicopter certification. * 2500 hours as Pilot in command, 100 hours Instrument with experience instructing in the IFR environment, 100 hours night. * 1000 hours of instruction given Military IP/Civilian CFI/I. FAA Dual Instruction experience preferred. * Class II FAA flight medical certificate current within the previous 12 months. * Qualification/experience flying technologically advanced aircraft (glass panel). * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work in a team environment and direct subordinates. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. * Strong written and oral communication skills. * Progressive management experience preferred. * Relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent professional development education preferred. * Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations * FAA Commercial Rotary Pilot's License rating and Certificated Flight Instructor/Instrument-Rotary or can readily obtain through a military competency process with the FAA. Security Responsibilities Must comply with all company security and data protection/usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for properly marking and handling all information and materials in any form. Shall not divulge any information or afford access to other employees who do not have a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside the company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically in company-provided resources. Work Environment and Physical Demands * Domestic and international travel as required. * Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit. * Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or under machinery. * Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and their surrounding environment. * Work in a regular office environment; communicate via a personal computer, telephone, and fax. * Will be working in areas with a risk of electrical shock from moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high pressure. * Will, at times, be exposed to the following conditions: extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.
